Concept:Ancient, Modern and Art deco Comparison:

Taking inspiration from the ancient history of the site, ancient and

modern architecture will be combined with the existed structure of the

building. Each level will create its own rhythm, maximizing on the site

view of the mosque and the rest of the city.

Natural materials will determine the main surface areas and the spaces

will be treated in a minimalistic manner so as to follow the pattern of

the city lovely architecture.

Combining ancient and modern is not new. Throughout History, whether through inheritance or acquisition, people have adapted

existing buildings and incorporated objects from previous generations and different cultures to create comfortable, individual and at times

fashionable homes.


Design brief:

I'm Design a boutique hotel in the heart of Nicosia front of the Landmark mosque Selimiye Mosque (St Sophia Cathedral), so because of the surrounding environment of the old historical building, keeping the same exterior design and interior going to be the first thing to do, I will modify it more and use the same materials to do it.Using art Deco with my concept to design the interior, for the ground level I will keep the same entrance, and the reception desk will be in the left side from the entrance with waiting area, elevator and stairs. The right area from the entrance will have a café with seating elements.Straight forward down the hall will come the court in the left side of it there will be the toilets, staffroom and storage. And the right side will have a small restaurant and bar. And it will have a seating area only for the hotel guests with special design. The ground floor will be commercial area which guests and visitors could use. For the first floor I will have 3 rooms with bathrooms and one of the rooms could be merged with the other and become a family room.There will be a big seating area outside with an overlook to the court, right front of it will be the bar and the eating area. All the first floor is going to be only for guests.

Case Study: Nestled in the heart of Tuscany’s vineyards, overlooking green

a collection of exquisitely restored rental villas and a boutique hotel,

seamlessly blended into the 12th century hamlet of Castiglioncello

del Trinoro.

Monteverdi consists of three private villas and a boutique hotel with seven

bedrooms—all blending medieval architecture with contemporary interior design

and modern day amenities.

This old-world boutique hotel, set in ancient cave dwellings overlooking the town of Matera, is a 4-minute walk from Matera Cathedral and a 10-minute walk from Casa

Grotta di Vico Solitario anthropology museum.Northeast of Rome, Santo Stefano di Sessanio nestles in the middle of Abruzzo and

is one of the region's most striking hilltop towns. There one finds the 27-room Sextantio Albergo Diffuso. Named after some of the area's first settlers, Sextantio's

gorgeous series of buildings spreads throughout the handsome village, which was purchased and then meticulously revived by Swedish-Italian entrepreneur,

philanthropist, and hotelier Daniele Kihlgren. Kihlgren committed himself entirely to the restoration, using strictly local materials—primarily terracotta tiles, wood, and

limestone—and striving for historical accuracy. Sextantio is not part of the hip Italian hotel route of idealized glamour and luxury. It attracts people with a strong sense of

adventure, a passion for history and authenticity, and a thirst for new experiences. But Sextantio equally draws those who value a beautiful local meal and cozy,

elegant accommodation. While not a traditional hotel, tradition is deeply ingrained in Sextantio's foundations.

Case Study:Seasoned hotelier Kai Hollmann turned Hamburg's 19th-century municipal gasworks into Europe's first loft-style hotel, instantly transforming the red-brick industrial complex into a one-of-a-kind hotel. Natural light floods the atrium lobby through two enormous arched windows and a glass roof. A gigantic, green industrial machine and an old tower clock serve as reminders of the building's days as a power station. When visiting Mangold, the in-house restaurant, guests will enjoy a creative cuisine composed of the freshest ingredients from around the globe. The Moroccan-influenced Gastwerk spa offers a sauna, steam bath, massages, beauty treatments, yoga, and pilates. Neutral light and soothing textures soften the rough industrial structure, giving its once purely functional form new life.

Case Study:This building is located in the centre of Humpolec town, in its developed part near

Havliček Square. The building’s spaces serve as a hotel with a restaurant, a wellness centre, and a conference centre. The new building stands on the place of several demolished previous constructions, and at the same time it is connected to the neighbouring renovated buildings of the MHA Company that is the owner of the hotel.The construction has five floors and a basement, which serves as a common garage for cars. The restaurant is situated on the ground floor, as well as spaces for the central building administration. The conference centre occupies the entire first floor. Hotel rooms and the wellness centre can be found from the second to the fourth floors. The top floor acts as an access to the roof terrace. Accommodation capacity is 40 beds.The main bearing structure is from reinforced concrete (columns, walls, ceilings, and girders) while peripheral walls are from brick blocks. Internal partitions are from SUPERTHERM and YTONG. Suspended ceilings are covering the HVAC conduits in most rooms.The main three-flight staircase is from reinforced concrete. The stairs are prefabricated, indeed, with a surface treatment like exposed concrete. The flat roof has inversion layers with gravel on top. Some parts of the roof have timber terraces. An insulation system terminates the facade, which is plastered and partly covered with either expanded aluminium sheets or SARAYBOND black sheets. Case Study:The Iron Horse is a reference both to the modern motorcycle and the iron horse of yesteryear, the train. Tracks run right past the property along the river. This is a restoration of a listed building in old Nicosia (North Cyprus) which was restored into a boutique hotel. It is designed by designer Hazem Maatug individual work in less than two months.
