• What goes up must must come down!

• But..it’s not all doom and gloom!



Accountancy & Finance

• H1 demand for accounting professionals exceeded supply, particularly in China

• Hot areas – Audit, Compliance and Internal Controls

• Salaries up 10 – 15%



Construction & Property

• HK - Infrastructure projects will drive demand

• Increased competition for jobs and salaries steady

• China – demand continues to outstrip supply leading to increased recruitment of overseas talent



Banking

• HK - power shift from candidates to clients

• Wealth management still strong

• China – demand across the board still strong (although evidence of weakening in Q4)



Insurance

• Demand strong in M&A, Corporate and Sales

• Bancassurance has driven expansion

• Upward pressure on salaries reduced



Information Technology

• HK - Demand still strong in certain areas, salaries generally flat

• Move towards hiring contractors • In China, growth set to continue with

salaries likely to keep rising



Finance Technology

• Market slowed considerably as the year progressed

• Increase in contract staff utilisation• Salary levels to remain steady



Legal

• Demand strong in certain specialist areas

• Growth largely driven by China• Salary increases have halved



The Future

• Don’t expect any bargains!• A greater emphasis on soft skills• Talent will always be in short supply
