tory in Kentucky next fall cant do more than predict Demo ¬ crats are still Democrats and there is not the slightest reason why anyone will desert or shift in the contest next fall Nobody wants a Republican victory ex ¬ cept Republicans nobody is ex ¬ pecting such a thing though aI feWof the over enthusiastics who are led by their fancy are holding up the ghost of their fan ¬ cy as a real living probability There is nothing done or contem ¬ 1 plated tobe done by Democratic officials to discredit the party in this state The people realize that the Democratic candidates are not untried men but known to be thoroughly competent to take care of the public good of this great Commonwealth It is tHe eternal fitness that will prompt every Democrat to cast his vote for his party nominees in the next contest and the re- sult ¬ will doubtless be in keeping with past victories Now some of the Republicans organ are ad ¬ vancing the opinion that they have a splendid chance to elect a legislature and thereby secure the next United States Senator The fact is that it will not hap penT man for this position has already been selected by a party primary and it was not W J Deboe It may be pleasant for Republican papers to lead their readers into a future land of c promise by the prediction rout but it will not change conditions Hon Matt M Mithell of Green county was in our city a few hours last Monday morning He made a splendid record while- a member of the last Legis ¬ lature and we think the Democ ¬ racy could not possibly make any mistake by giving him an en ¬ dorsement for his fine record We also think it would be a wise course to pursue to have each county to endorse for a second f term where the official has la ¬ bored faithfully for his constitu J ency as Mr Mitchell did lor County Enquirer The above is a just compliment to a good man and an able hon- est and faithful Representative of Green and Taylor counties in the last Legislature While it is not our district and while we do not desire to Interfere inany way even if we could in the se lection of a Democratic candidate for those counties yet Mr Mitchells nomination would be goodnews to his many friends in this part of the country A strong man and a true Democrat A he may be equaled but not bet ¬ 1 tered by the selection of some one else A plot to kill the Czar and Will Roosevelt accept a nomina- tion ¬ spent to reach the North pole but the Southern end of the axle tree is left undisturbed Democratic prospects in Ohio are about on par with Repuplica claims of victory in Kentuck next fall Neither are not likel to happen by several thousand votes in each state The dollar price for wheat was passed in the Chicago market last week That is doubtless good news to those who have it to sell but the millions who have it to buy will feel that it is a hardship to eat breadI The Democrats of Louisville I assisted by the Commercial Club are making an effort to se ¬ cure the next National Democrat ¬ ic Convention It appears to us as a fine meeting place and its location to the entire country ideal We hope the Committee will name Louisville as the place and set a date in advance of any other national political conven ¬ tion BASE BALL GAME Campbellsville Against Columbia Next Thursday at 230 on the grounds of the LindsayWilson Campbellsville and Columbia base ball teams willcross bats Both towns have splendid players and it will be one of the most interesting contests that has been witnessed in this section for along time Come and see the game MF RECITALS The Recitals given by the pupils of Prof Ohlenmacher Teacher of music in the M F High School furnished the lovers of classical music in this section some rare treats It is not within our power to do justice to each participant in the four recitals as each and every one seemed to reach the height of per ¬ fection and showed both talent and training of superior order The enter- tainments ¬ were given in the Presby ¬ terian Church and in each instance a large audience was present to enjoy the programme The pupils of Miss Taylor teacher of i expression assisted and each one mea ¬ ured up to the high expectation of teach ¬ er and audience To night Tuesday the last bow to the public wiil be made by the advanced class and it goes as a matter of fact that the entertainment will be one of the best ever given in the city Prof Ohlenmacher is not only competent but has won the reputation of being one of the closest and most per ¬ sistent workers that ever guided a stu ¬ dent in this part of the Country and his series of recitals furnished overwhelm ¬ ling proof of his power to get the best possible results from those who follow his instruction That he has accom- plished a good work full up to the high expectations of
