The in-ground trampoline is finished and we are awaiting fencing for its completion. Whist we are waiting, temporary fencing has been erected and as of today students can access and use it. The landscaping for the sandpit is finished and looks great. However, there is a delay in the fencing around the sandpit. This should be completed sometime next week. Once this is done the sand will be ordered. So hopefully the sandpit will be operational in about 2 weeks. Reports Reports have been sent home this week via email. Please remember that due to COVID-19 the reports are modified to reflect the limited learning opportunities that were available in the first six months of the year. PLP’s PLP Reviews meetings will held in Weeks 3, 4 and 5. Notes have gone home with suggested appointment times. Due to COVID-19 guidelines we are conducting phone meetings instead of meeting face to face. It is still very important that we can work as a team in prioritising what is important for your child. If the time is unsuitable please let us know and the teachers will try to organise another time for the phone call. We look forward to connecting you in the coming weeks. Education Week We are celebrating Education week in week 3 of Term 3 with the theme of “learning together”. However due to current COVID-19 guidelines, Havenlee School will not have an assembly or open classrooms for parents/carers to visit the school. We will be having Education week activities for the students and each class will be sending home a class newsletter to show you what they have been doing. Gymnastics Special Olympics have made an offer to conduct a gymnastics program at Havenlee School in Term 4 this year. This was a successful program last year. In order to fund this program, they would like to request the use of the Active Kids Voucher which all students from Kindergarten to Year 12 are eligible for. We will send home a claim form shortly. Smoke Free Schools Reminder If you want to smoke whilst you are waiting for your child in the afternoons could you please go across the road. Smoking on school premises, including school buildings, gardens, sports fields and car parks, is prohibited. This includes employees, visitors and other people who use school premises, including community groups. Schools are bound by legislative requirements under NSW smoke-free laws. The Smoke-free Environment Act 2000 requires enclosed public places to be smoke free. The Act also requires certain outdoor areas to be smoke-free including within 10 metres of children's playgrounds, public transport stops and stations, spectator areas of sports grounds and within 4 metres from an entrance used by pedestrians to get into or out of a building. Within the department, pedestrian access points include areas such as school gates where there is limited opportunity for people to avoid second hand tobacco smoke. Reminder… Photos are coming up on Monday 17 August.
