Why Should We Eat Pears?

• Pears are a great source of vitamin C which helps fight infections and fights off colds.

• Pears are a good source of fiber which promotes bowel regularity.

• 41% of the form of fiber

in pears is pectin which helps sustain blood sugar.

• They’re also a good source of potassium which is needed for muscle contractions and to control high blood pressure.

How To Select, Store and Serve Pears

• Select fresh pears that are colorful.

• Soft pears are ripe and ready to eat.

• To ripen pears place them in a container at room temperature or in a bag. If placed next to apples, they’ll ripen faster.

• Place ripe pears in the coldest part of the refrigerator.

• To prevent pears from changing colors, place them in a mix of 1 tablespoon of apple juice and a cup of water.

• Pears are best when eaten with the peel, as that is where all the fiber and antioxidants are.

inside out.

•The wood of pear trees is one of preferred materials in the manufacture of high quality woodwind instruments

• Children need to get at least 60 minutes of activity a day.

• Adults need at least 30 minutes of physical activity a day.
