ADVANCE THE SPARK
Our members (and their cars) make the Club great! We just received a letter from theCanoga Park/West Hills Chamber of Commerce informing us that our club was the“Best Auto Group in the Memorial Day Parade of May 27, 2013.” AND, besides a niceletter that the Historian will file in the clubs archives we also received a check for $200which went in to our bank account! Those of us that participated deserve recognition asour cars will really decorated in red-white-blue and the crowd loved our horn blowing. Please note in the Rumble Sheet that we have added some new advertisers. Pleasesupport them as they support us. The newest advertisers are Model A Oil FilterSystems, Brattons Auto Parts, Arizona Model A Parts, Abstract Fiberglass Auto BodyShop, The Tin Shop, and Gayle Fitzpatrick Dog Sitting.Don Arveson is scheduled to have his next (hopefully the last) surgery on Friday, July5. I spoke to him and he is upbeat and ready. His doctor has told him that this surgerywill be much less severe than the last one and he should only be in the hospital about 4days. Let’s all keep Don in our thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery and lookforward to seeing him at our meetings and activities very soon.As we are really getting in the heat of summer, remember to always carry an extragallon of water in our Model A’s so they don’t get dehydrated! As always, keep advancing the spark!
Headin’ to Palmdale! Those cherriesbetter be scared!

It looks like our Web Site has worked its magic again! Three new members joined our Club in June, two of whichcame by way of the Web Site. They're Susi Pozzo and Bob Brown. They recently purchased a 1930 Deluxe Roadsterand are interested in learning more about Model A's and touring. We're glad you decided to join our Chapter; you'llmake good friends and have lots of fun with your new Model A. The other new member is Sam Platts. Sam lives nearJim Lank. Jim has seen him driving his 1930 Closed Cab Pick Up in their neighborhood and has spoken to Sam onoccasion and invited him to attend one of our meetings. Sam not only came to our meeting and joined our Club, buthe also drove his Pick Up to the meeting as well. Thanks for coming! Other new members attending our Junemeeting were Mark and Jo Lichtman. This was their first meeting since joining; however they did participate in theMemorial Day Parade as riders in Harry Hirschensohn's 1929 Phaeton. Mark has also joined us more than once forWednesday lunch at the Lamplighter. Welcome to all our new members and thanks for participating in our Club!
We had a very special guest at the June meeting, Jack from JACK'S upholstery stopped by to say "hi” to the Clubmembers he knows from reupholstering their cars and to make some new friends. Thanks Jack for supporting ourClub.

June ramblingsWhat with graduations and weddings and the like, the getting’out and about for June was a bit slow. But what better daythan with a forecast of record breaking heat to take yourModel A up to Palmdale to pickcherries? And so eight hardy Henry’sLadies chugged up Sierra Hwy at amore leisurely pace than had beenanticipated perhaps to Villa Del Sols
orchards where an abundant crop of cherries hung from thetrees, just begging to be picked. If you were over 5’ 6” tall, even more plentiful. After an hour, we seemed to have pickedour limits, reconvened and headed to a ranch in nearby LeonaValley. Kathy Roberts had invited us to watch an exhibition of trained herding dogs.Everyone and every dog was on break when we arrived,
so we had lunch, alfrescoenjoying the Leona Valleyzephyrs. After lunch (theirs notours) the dogs were back to
work and what a show it was! Thanks so much,Kathy, for that opportunity.

Moments from the June meeting….
Ladies only drawing winner, Valerie Vaughan, receives her gift, a reversiblesalad bowl (Never needs washing) from Whitney Lank, gift donor.
Not to be out done, Valerie’s hubby, Carroll, receives his own award - apint sized rubber chicken. This scaled down capon trophy was wonbecause his woody, which he wasn’t driving, was cited for most stops onthe cherry picking venture, June 8, 2013. Kudos to Chris Haynes, serving as backseat driver that day, for tending to the radiator with suchalacrity.
What more can be said about Ron Mosher, club legend and man amongmen, (shown here with club prez Harry) who, upon winning this month’s50/50 drawing, without provocation or hesitation, offered one half ofhis winnings to his bride and club historian, Carol. All $2.50 !!!!!!
