Paddington Arts
Paddington Arts
• Loss of public sector funding – requirement to secure sufficient income to sustain and grow core activities (performance arts and youth media)
• Own freehold of site in Woodfield Rd, developing expansion plans to include more rehearsal and work space for hire
• High potential to link up with other arts / creative organisations in the area
• Open to the idea of incorporating community activities, café and performance space for public events as part of expansion plans
• Looking at a variety of redevelopment options now
St Mary Mags
• Progress with construction: due to complete Autumn 18
• Creating a focal point for the history of communities in Paddington and along the Harrow Road
• Volunteering and community activities underway to develop community ownership of the building
• Starting to prepare a cultural programme for when we open
• Providing a new cultural destination, enlivening the canal-side (café), connected both to Paddington, and to Harrow Road

Canal and River Trust
• Part of Quietways network of shared pedestrian and cycling routes along canal funded by TfL
• Permission in place for 8 new residential moorings along north side, by Carlton Gate development
• Visitor moorings (for up to 14 days) allowed everywhere, unless special restrictions in place
• New boater facilities needed ideally on the stretch by Tower Transit / Great Western Studios
• Larger barges including workspace in Paddington Basin, would consider elsewhere
• Community Adoptions scheme – possible for a community group to volunteer to look after a stretch of canal / land along it; “Super Adoptions” include several organisations acting together
• Usual issues: fumes, refuse, engine noise (restrictions included in license but enforcement difficult)
GLA Regeneration aims to deliver high-quality, targeted programmes to maximise social, cultural, and economic benefits, leverage and impact.
