HAROLD H. CLARK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Dear Parents:
Welcome to Clark Elementary School. We are looking forward to welcoming our students to the new school year on
Wednesday, August 10, 2016. This year our school theme is “Yo Ho, Yo Ho, A Learner’s Life for Me!” We look
forward to working as a team to ensure that we provide an educational atmosphere where all students are able to
achieve success.
School hours are 8:00 a.m. – 2:15 p.m. Students are not allowed on campus before 7:30 a.m. unless they are enrolled
in the HOST morning care program. If you are interested in enrolling your child in the morning care program,
please check the district website for registration information. (http://www.sdhc.k12.fl.us/doc/1418/onlineregistration).
If your child will be riding a bus to school this year, we suggest that they begin riding the bus on the first morning of
school if possible. Allowing them to do so will help to foster their independence, and will help to ensure that there is
no confusion at dismissal since students receive bus identification bracelets when they get off the bus on the first
day of school.
All enrolled students will be receiving a postcard instructing parents to go to our school website to view important
back to school information including teacher assignments and grade level times for our Meet the Teacher/PTA
Expo on Monday, August 8th (3:30-6:00 p.m.). Kindergarten parent orientation is scheduled for Friday, August 5th
at 2:00 p.m. The label on the postcard will include your child’s name and a number code that will be needed to
determine the assignment when you visit the website. We will send a message through the School District’s Parent
Link call system with instructions on how to determine your child’s teacher. If you do not receive a post card or the
instructions by phone, you may call the school on either August 3rd or 4th to get your child’s classroom assignment.
Breakfast and hot lunches are served daily. Breakfast is served from 7:30 - 7:55 a.m., and is free for all students.
Lunch is $2.25.
We are looking forward to working together to provide your children with the knowledge and skills necessary to
reach their highest potential.

classroom at 8:00.
STUDENT SIGN IN/OUT
Parents are encouraged to schedule doctor and dental appointments around school hours. If this is not possible,
please come to the main office to sign your child in or sign your child out. Students may be released only to
persons authorized by the parent/guardian as an emergency contact on the Student Release and Emergency

your ID ready and present it to office staff EACH time you sign your child out.
Student sign out will end at 1:40 pm each day. After this time, students move to different classrooms for intervention
or enrichment activities based on individual needs. During this time there is a lot of movement about campus and we
are unable to allow parents to sign in and go to classrooms to pick up students, or call students to the office for sign-
out.
TRANSPORTATION
The School District of Hillsborough County provides transportation for pupils that reside more than two miles
from their school site. Students are not allowed to ride a bus other than their assigned bus or to a location other
than their own residence.
ALL changes in the way a student will go home must be presented in writing. A written note, email, or FAX are

7:30 – 8:00 a.m.
• Car Riders may be dropped off from 7:30-7:55, near the back of the building by the cafeteria. Pulling all
the way forward in the car rider line allows the most cars to unload at one time, expediting drop-off. Parking is
available in the back of the building from 7:30 - 8:00 for parents to park and walk children to class.
• DO NOT drop your child off in the parking lot.
• PLEASE DO NOT PARK IN THE FRONT OF THE SCHOOL TO DROP YOUR CHILD OFF

dismissed with a valid car rider tag. NO EXCEPTIONS.

cannot be administered by the school. Prescription medications must be delivered to the clinic by parents and
district mandated procedures followed.

Uniform Policy
In an effort to enhance the learning environment at Clark Elementary School, we have a
mandatory uniform policy with an opt-out provision. Research indicates that uniforms have a
positive impact on school-wide discipline and academic achievement. Uniforms provide a sense
of school pride and positive self-esteem, allow students to focus on learning, save time and
money, help maintain a safe and secure environment and reduce peer pressure.
Students are required to wear the school uniform Monday through Thursday. Students and staff
may wear “spirit” shirts on Fridays. Students that do not wear “spirit” shirts on Fridays are
required to wear regular collared uniform shirts. Donated uniforms are available to assist families
who are unable to purchase uniforms.
An opt-out form (available in the front office) must be submitted if a parent does not want their
child to participate in the uniform code. Students that opt-out are required to comply with the
District Dress and Grooming Policy.
Thank you for supporting our mandatory uniform policy. If you have any questions regarding our uniform policy or are in need of uniform assistance please contact administration. School approved uniforms consist of the following:
Uniform Top:
Red, White, or Navy Blue Collared Shirt
Pants/Skirts/Shorts/Jumpers:
Navy Blue or Khaki/Beige (blue jeans are permitted)
