CHOOSE FROM THREE LEVELS OF PERFORMANCE AND COMFORT.

1. tHermoPlastIc

These helmets are made from thermoplastic, a single-layer, injection-molded material. Due to its single-layer construction, a thermoplastic helmet requires a larger inner impact liner, which in turn increases shell size and weight.Blade 3/4 Helmet Shown EC-97209-09E/F

2. FIBerGlass

This material differs from thermoplastic shells in that it has multiple layers of fiber cloth combined with layers of resin. 3. carBoN KeVlar®

Manufactured using multiple layers of carbonized Kevlar fibers, along with multiple layers of resin. Due to the combined strength of both carbon and Kevlar, less material is needed to achieve maximum helmet strength. EVERY HARLEY-DAVIDSON® HELMET IS A TOUGH CHOICE While it might seem like there are as many helmets to choose from as there are roads to ride, all helmets have four major components: a rigid outer shell, an EPS (Expanded Polystyrene) impact-absorbing liner, a chin strap retention system, and padding for fit and comfort. All Harley-Davidson® helmets meet ECE 22-05 requirements.

helMet Fit

MAkE SURE YOUR HELMET MEASURES UPProper fit is vital to the performance and effectiveness of any helmet. Remember: all helmets fit differently, so always try on a helmet before you purchase it. Ask your local dealer to help you choose the helmet that’s right for you.

FIND THE PROPER FITUsing the steps below, try on various sizes of helmets until you find your perfect fit. Proper fit is vital to the performance and effectiveness of your helmet.

steP oNe:

Put the helmet on and fasten the chin strap comfortably snug. It should not be easy to slide a finger between your chin and the strap. And if there is space between your brow-line and the inner lining, or you’re able to roll the helmet forward and off your head, try on the next smaller size.

steP two:

Move the helmet from side-to-side and front-to-back. You should feel your skin and scalp move as the helmet moves. The helmet should fit as tightly as you can comfortably wear it, because the helmet’s inner liner will compress with use.

steP tHree:

Wear the helmet for at least fifteen minutes prior to purchase to ensure there are no uncomfortable pressure points. If you do experience discomfort, try on a helmet that is a larger size or another style. If you wear eyeglasses or sunglasses while riding, bring them along and wear during the 15 minute test time to ensure they fit inside the helmet without irritating your ears or the bridge of your nose.

Once you find a helmet that fits properly, check your range of vision to the left, right, up and down to insure no part of the helmet obstructs your field of vision.

replaced every 3 to 5 years, depending on use. Glues, resins and other helmet materials break down over time, and hair oils, sweat, cosmetics and the sun’s UV rays can add to helmet deterioration.

• Remember,ahelmetisdesignedforonlyONEimpact.Ifahelmet is dropped or suffers any impact, it should be replaced immediately. Any impact may fracture the outer shell or compress the impact-absorbing liner.

MAXIMIZE THE LIFE OF YOUR HELMETNeVer

• Exposeahelmettochemicalsorexcessiveheat,asthismay degrade the protective properties, even if damage is not visible.

• Hangahelmetonamotorcycle’smirror,turnsignalorsissybar, which may damage the impact absorbing liner.

• Usesolventsorchemicalstocleananypartofthehelmetorshield, as they can destroy protective coatings and compromise the structural integrity of the helmet.
