Adeste fideles, lae triumphantes, Venite, venite in Bethlehem.

Natum videte, Regem angelorum. Venite adoremus, venite adoremus,

Venite adoremus Dominum.

O come, all ye faithful, joyful and triumphant, O come ye, O come ye to Bethlehem;

Come and behold Him, born the King of angels;

O come, let us adore Him, O come let us adore Him, O come let us adore Him Christ, the Lord!

Sing, choirs of angels, sing in exultaon,

Sing, all ye cizens of heaven above! Glory to God, all glory in the highest;

Yea, Lord we greet thee, born this happy morning,

Jesus, to thee, be all glory given; Word of the Father, now in flesh appearing;

Away In A Manger Text: McFarland Tune: Mueller

Away in a manger, no crib for a bed, The li le Lord Jesus laid down his sweet head. The stars in the sky looked down where he lay,

The li le Lord Jesus, asleep on the hay.

The ca le are lowing, the baby awakes, But li le Lord Jesus, no crying he makes;

I love thee, Lord Jesus! Look down from the sky, And stay by my cradle ll morning is night.

Be near me, Lord Jesus, I ask thee to stay Close by me forever, and love me, I pray;

Bless all the dear children in thy tender care, And fit us for heaven to live with thee there.

O Li le Town of Bethlehem Text: Brooks Tune: Redner

O li le town of Bethlehem, How sll we see thee lie! Above thy deep and dreamless sleep The silent stars go by;

Yet in the dark streets shineth The everlasng Light; The hopes and fears of all the years Are met in thee tonight.

For Christ is born of Mary, And gathered all above,

While mortals sleep, the angels keep Their watch of wondering love. O morning stars, together Proclaim the holy birth!

And praises sing to God the King, And peace to all on earth.

How silently, how silently, The wondrous gi is given! So God imparts to human hearts The blessings of His heaven.

No ear may hear his coming, But in this world of sin, Where meek souls will receive him, sll The dear Christ enters in.

O holy Child of Bethlehem! Descend to us we pray; Cast out our sin and enter in, Be born in us today.

We hear the Christmas angels The great glad dings tell; O come to us abide with us, Our Lord Emmanuel!

Additional Music

It Came Upon the Midnight Clear Text: Sears Tune: Willis

It came upon the midnight clear, That glorious song of old

From angels bending near the earth to touch their harps of gold: “Peace on the earth, good will to all from heavens all gracious king;”

The world in solemn sllness lay to hear the angels sing.

Sll through the cloven skies they come, with peaceful wings unfurled And sll their heav’nly music floats o’er all the weary world: Above its sad and lowly plains they bend on hov’ring wing,

And ever o’er its Babel sounds the blessed angels sing.

And ye, beneath life’s crushing load, Whose forms are bending low, Who toil along the climbing way With painful steps and slow,

Look now! For glad and golden hours Come swi ly on the wing: O rest beside the weary road And hear the angels sing.

For, lo, the days are hastening on, By prophet bards foretold,

When with the ever-circling years Comes ‘round the age of gold; When peace shall over all the earth Its ancient splendors fling,

And all the world give back the song Which now the angels sing.

Gloria (sung)

We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you, we give you thanks for your great glory,

Lord God, heavenly King, O God, almighty Father. (refrain)

Lord Jesus Christ, Only Bego en Son, Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father,

you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us; you take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer;

you are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us. (refrain)

For you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord, you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ,

with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Amen. (refrain)

First Reading (from the Vigil Mass) ISAIAH 62: 1 - 5 For Zion's sake I will not be silent, for Jerusalem's sake I will not be quiet, unl her vindicaon shines forth like the dawn and her victory like a burning torch. Naons shall behold your vindicaon, and all the kings your glory; you shall be called by a new name pronounced by the mouth of the LORD. You shall be a glorious crown in the hand of the LORD, a royal diadem held by your God. No more shall people call you "Forsaken," or your land "Desolate," but you shall be called "My Delight," and your land "Espoused." For the LORD delights in you and makes your land his spouse. As a young man marries a virgin, your Builder shall marry you; and as a bridegroom rejoices in his bride so shall your God rejoice in you. The Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.

Silent night, holy night, All is calm, all is bright

Round yon Virgin Mother and Child, Holy Infant so tender and mild,

Then he removed Saul and raised up David as king; of him he tesfied, 'I have found David, son of Jesse, a man a er my own heart; he will carry out my every wish.' From this man's descendants God, according to his promise, has brought to Israel a savior, Jesus. John heralded his coming by proclaiming a bapsm of repentance to all the people of Israel; and as John was compleng his course, he would say, 'What do you suppose that I am? I am not he. Behold, one is coming a er me; I am not worthy to unfasten the sandals of his feet.'" The Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.

Songs During Communion

Angels We Have Heard on High

Text: Chadwick Tune: GLORIA, Trad French Carol

Angels we have heard on high Sweetly singing o’er the plains,

And the mountains in reply Echo back their joyous strains.

Gloria in excelsis Deo! Gloria in excelsis Deo!

Shepherds why this jubilee? Why your joyous strains prolong? Say what may the tidings be Which inspire your heavenly song.

Come to Bethlehem and see Him whose birth the angels sing.

Come adore on bended knee, Christ the Lord the newborn king.

See Him in a manger laid Whom the angels praise above; Mary, Joseph, lend your aid While we raise our hearts in love.

At the Mass with the Children’s Choir, please repeat each phrase of the Lamb of God

after the student cantor intones:

Gospel Reading (from the Mass During the Night) LUKE 2: 1 – 14 In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that the whole world should be enrolled. This was the first enrollment, when Quirinius was governor of Syria. So all went to be enrolled, each to his own town. And Joseph too went up from Galilee from the town of Nazareth to Judea, to the city of David that is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David, to be enrolled with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. While they were there, the me came for her to have her child, and she gave birth to her firstborn son. She wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. Now there were shepherds in that region living in the fields and keeping the night watch over their flock. The angel of the Lord appeared to them and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were struck with great fear. The angel said to them, "Do not be afraid; for behold, I proclaim to you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For today in the city of David a savior has been born for you who is Christ and Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find an infant wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger." And suddenly there was a multude of the heavenly host with the angel, praising God and saying: "Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests." The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, Lord, Jesus Christ.

NiceneCreed (all recite) I believe in one God, the Father almighty,

maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.

I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ,

the Only Bego en Son of God, born of the Father before all ages.

God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God,

bego en, not made, consubstanal with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvaon

he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary,

and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Ponus Pilate,

he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day

in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven

and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory

to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,

who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified,

who has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church.

I confess one Bapsm for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrecon of the dead

and the life of the world to come. Amen.
