In 1996 set a starting point to Mrs. Hien’s family when the State had the policy of long-term land use bidding for economic development. Thanks to the encouragement and help from friends and neighbors, her family bid 5 ha of hilly land in the commune. Then, her husband and she borrowed money from poverty reduction fund to buy one cow and a flock of pigs. Time gradually passed, her family accumulated some capital to develop livestock in a larger scale based on the existing experiences. Presently, Mrs Hien’s farm owns 20 cows and 50 pigs; what’s more, her family is growing industrial plants such as acacia and eucalyptus, etc. Mrs. Hien also makes use of hilly land to grow many types of vegetable with high productivity like peanut, soybean and onion. After many years of hard work and experience, her family has built complex livestock farm which generates hundreds of million VND. Mrs Hien says that in 2009 her family earned 70 million VND after deducting input costs. Her family dreams to replicate this model and set up a complex farming club in the commune. In order to realize her dream, IMPP Ha Tinh supported many different activities such as technique training, study tour. Especially, the recently – organized training course in collaboration with Nghi Xuan district agricultural department enables her to apply cow breeding successfully. Thanks to her hard-work, creativeness and the support from IMPP Ha Tinh, her family not only escapes from the poverty but becomes one of well- being households as well. Source: from Xuan Vien CPST
