Happy Spring !!!! 

There are times when we all have to be patient.  Patience is a virtue.  Well, the patience of us all has paid off!  Spring is here, ….you know,  the  time when  birds  start  to  chirp  in  the  early morning, we  bring  out  our  running  shoes,  spring  flowers  are bursting  through  the  brownish  greenish grass,  and  that  little voice  inside  your  head  telling  you  that  something  great  is coming  soon…CAMP!    This  earlier  than  usual  time  change ‘spring  ahead’  nonsense  has  caused  us  all  a  little  craziness. 

We  aren’t  sure  what  time  it  is anymore.    Is  there anything  that we  can  do  to  stop  the  insanity? And then there’s the pretty colors of  eggs,  chocolate  rabbits  and baby  chicks…why  do  we  make delicious  chocolate  such  a prominent  part  of  Spring? Anyway,  on  a  Spring  related note…back  to  the  relevance  of 

CAMP!    Yes,  it’s  soon  going  to  be  time when  all  of  you  are nervously  anticipating  the  start  of  the summer camp  season, when you will all meet in the beautiful State of Maine for an incredible  camp experience of new  friends,  fun activities, and just plain relaxation from the stress of school and everything that goes with those wonderful textbooks and class schedules. Before you know it, you’ll be heading to Maine Teen Camp, the land  of  all  that’s  fun  and  exciting,  safe  and  inspiring, interesting and endearing, …you get the picture. Here are  names  of  just  some  of  the MTC family, who  simply  can’t wait  for

but each year the city  of Porter, Maine  throws a big party  to welcome  the  return  of  our  staff  to  Maine.    They  host  a wonderful rodeo style banquet, complete with a huge meal and parade.  They absolutely love our staff and for many, it’s like seeing old friends in the community again each summer.  Dillo LOVES parades, especially riding on the top of the shiny fire truck.    And  we  know  how  much  Sean  Satin  enjoys  the jamboree and its bluegrass music.  He was once asked to join in,  but  town  officials  wanted  him  to  wear  a  ‘special  outfit’ which Sean declines  to comment on to  this date.   We hear  it had something to do with chicken suits…or Mr. Cabbage, the Maine  state  Mascot.    Anyway,  continuing  on  with  the celebration, let’s celebrate the names of our 2007 STAFF!…. ABDY, Clare  ANTHONY, NIGEL  ANTION,  Rachel ATEWOLOGUN, AnuBAME, Ernest (Wilson)BARRY, Simon  BECKER,

Taking up even more space, it’s STAFF NEWS AND NOTES 

Nicky Martin  has  been  reviewing  all  our waterfront  safety  protocols  including  testing  out  some  new water  toys.   Nicky has been allowed  to perform a  self­test  in S. Africa on  the new  toys,  including  the fabulous  ‘hydro­cyclops’.    The  giant  8ft.  towering  self­propelled  inflatable  water  monster  has  really been a big hit with Nicky and her friends who have kindly agreed to do the testing.  Unfortunately,  it went badly recently, with high winds. Let us never speak of it again.  .…Rachel Antion, back from her recent music tour dates in the Sudbury area has agreed to delight us this summer with more ‘Chicks that Rock’ classes.  Baz ‘The Beast’ Devlia is looking forward to his role as certified Master Blaster (what is this, you ask?).  You will have to wait to find out.  We have recently gotten word from Gareth Wales that he has been rockin it with his  latest band in New Zealand, and that he and his touring group have decided to join Mark Flip Flop, on stage performing together as a Slayer cover band.  Aubrey Rule has been  recently  spotted  in  Florida.   Why? Well,  apparently  she  has  been  hired  to work  until  camp  at Disney, as both  secruity and  the delightful character of  Belle,  from Beauty and  the Beast. Nigel,  has been enjoying the long awaited Cricket World Cup.  This  event has shown off the islands of the West Indies,  the  amazing  sport  of  cricket,  and  island  hospitality!  Look  for  a  guy  named Brian  Lara  who claims that Nigel taught him everything he knows, to play well for the West Indian team.  Candice Blaze Johnson has recently relocated to Maine and has already noticed that her dog, Haus has been acting a bit different.  Yes, apparently the large grey squirrels are giving Haus a bit of extra attention and Haus is finding it a bit difficult to catch one for casual conversation.  Hillary Wardwell aka Hobbit has recently discovered  her  incredible  hulkness  ability  to  push  vehicles  out  of  ditches  during  snowstorms.   Amy Docwra is looking forward to her job as LT Coordinator, so much so that she has begun taking classes in community  service  projects  and  dirty  jobs  that  no  one  would  like  to  do.    Melzie,  our  videographer extraordinaire  at  camp,  is  busy  with  her  camera  already!    Mel  has  been  in  LA  doing  a  story  on paparrazzi and studying their habits.  So far, no celebrities have lost their temper with Mel, often heard saying…she’s fabulous, just fabulous!  Christian Perry  is currently at camp working on the new studio enhancement.  Yes, Mr. Perry is already busy preparing the music studios and green room, and it’s only March!  His wife is disturbed by his behavior, but knows that “it’s good for him to be so um, dedicated”. Karl G. has been working on the recording of his self­titled album, Karl, available at a store near you soon. BTW Karl loves Corey Hart and Anne Murray’s greatest hits. And finally, Bruce, the Travel guy, who often makes  that public service announcement we all  love  to hear…Think Luggage  (please don’t forget)….plenty more staff to talk about…but maybe you will just have to meet these stellar people in person!

New CABINS? Say What?!?!  In a word, YES.  Well, in an overwhelming response to one of our MEY questions wayyyy back in the Fall, we noted that most of you preferred to have a new girls cabin built, so….we are building 2 of them!  That’s right gals, we are removing two older cabins and replacing them with state of the art, brand spanking new (what DOES that mean anyway?), cabins, each with two showers, basins, and toilets, a closet, overhead storage space, and best of all….a new front porch!  Designer extraordinaire, Kris Kamys, and builder extraordinaire, Mark Bolton, combined with ancient wisdom from Jay Stager, and well, Mo, Pinesy, Sarah, and whoever else can throw in their two cents, have come up with a great cabin appearance inside and out, to keep with the New England ‘Camp’ Scene, somewhat replicating the old style, but updating all that’s old with shiny new.  So yeah, sort of old but totally new.  Yeah, you get it.  Okay boys, we know how incredibly bummed you are about not having new cabins, but we also know that you admire the girls so much that you are willing to forgo your chance this year of new cabins for them.  Geez, chilvary is sweet isn’t it? NEW TRIP??? Has MTC admin gone crazy?…yes, a new trip has been added to our already vast selection…the Maine Moose Experience.  What is this MME?  You experience all that is mooses.  Including moose dropping, moose footprints and…well you get the picture. ASK DR. Woody Proud Winner  of  the  1996  Daytime  Emmy,  and  1997/1998  winner  of  the Attorney  Generals  annual  award  for  most  irresponsible  and  immature advice giving to impressionable young people (the Spice Girl Award).

Dear Fused:  In response to this interesting query, It  can  be  said  that  winter  lasts  a  bit  too  long, overstaying  it’s  welcome  –  like  that  unwanted house  guest  that  you  get who  eats  all  your  food, watches  your  TV  and  never  helps  do  the 

dishes…you know, the kind that reflects poorly upon humans in general.  The kind  that    mooches  and  never  gives  back  in  return.    The  kind  that…okay, sorry, I recently had a houseguest.  Back to the question.  Frankly, winter is not that bad and in fact, I agree.  Thanks for asking. 

See  you  all  this  summer!!  Not  long now…only  14  ½  days  left  till  June  24 th ! Yes,  we  are  counting,  but  apparently  not very well.
