Happy New Year and Welcome Back We hope you have all had a wonderful Christmas and a resul break with your families. We know that we needed our break and Im sure the children were in a similar posion! They all worked incredibly hard in the run up to Christmas, with their amazing performance in their first Carol Service being a highlight of the term. They impressed us all last term with their atude to learning and mature approach to life around school. The Spring Term will be another busy term culminang in the performance of Ali Baba and the Bongo Bandits Curriculum News The children will be switching to history in Humanies this term. They will be learning about pre-history moving from the Stone Age through to the Bronze and Iron Age. Aſter half term we will be vising Bishops Wood, to reinforce learning through praccal workshops. In art they will be studying 'cave art to graffi art' in which the children will make cave painngs, queson the purpose of cave art and explore how cave painngs were made. They will then look at the work of street arsts such as Keith Haring and Banksy to explore their use of symbols. They will Ali Baba and The Bongo Bandits Year 4 will be taking the lead in the musical producon of Ali Baba and the Bongo Bandits in March. There will be 2 performances on 16th and the 18th March 2019. The rehearsal schedules have been handed out with spare copies displayed on both The Stables front door the music room door. It is really im- portant that the children aend the rehearsals they are scheduled to. Mrs Hughes will be work- ing on the songs for the show in her music lessons Mr Roberts can work on the acng and stage craſt required to pull off such an ambious producon. Things to do at home Listen to your child read and discuss the book with them everyday. Read a variety of texts to your child, allowing them to experience books be- yond their reading ability. Times tables need to be pracced regularly to build fluency and understand- ing. Talk about me and clocks. Ask real life mathemacal quesons . One of our main focuses this year is to increase the childrens vocabulary. Please encourage your children to discover and understand new language and note excing new words in their Ninja Notes. We know that we needed our
