Happy New Year!
Congratulations to Alyssa, the winner of the $25 rent credit for December!
Every resident who has a zero-balance on the first day of each month is entered
into our drawing to win a $25 rent credit! This month, it could be you!
Late Night
Breakfast We had so much fun serving you and wishing you luck on your
finals! We hope it helped and you got
the grades you wanted! Good luck with the Spring
semester!
Area Council Thank you SO much for your generosity, Courtyards! With
your help, the Area Council was able to collect approximately
500 cans of foods for the UMD Food Pantry, a program that supports UMD students, staff,
and faculty in need. Thanks for giving back to YOUR community!
DOTS January Schedule Beginning January 4th, the Shuttles will run on their
Winter schedule. Access it here: http://ter.ps/7v5

holiday gifts? Well, we have a deal for you! Storage units are available to rent by the month for residents on a first come, first serve basis. Cost is $25 a month. For
more information, contact Misty Adams:
We want YOU back at
The Courtyards!
Do you know where you are living next year? Do you have roommates who are graduating? It’s time to renew your lease! All Courtyards residents who wish to return for the Fall 2015/
Spring 2016 lease year will need to complete the Intent to Return Form. The form will be available 24 hours a day, online, as
of January 21, 2015. The submission deadline is February 11 by 11:59 pm. Missing this deadline will prohibit a resident from
retaining their space in The Courtyards.
If you have roommates who are graduating or moving out, you have an opportunity to pull-in a roommate for next year. If you would like to pull-in someone, you will need to submit that student’s name, UID number, and email address when you submit
your intention form online before the deadline. Please note, your pull in must also submit an application. (If you do not intend to pull anyone in, you will still need to complete the
pull in section and click “opt out”).
Attend our Renewal Process session on January 25th at 2 or January 26th at 3 in the Clubhouse to learn more about the renewal process and ask any questions you may have! Visit https://mydrl.umd.edu/ for the Intention to Renew form and for applications for potential pull-ins (or friends who want to
live in The Courtyards).
Want to Show
Off Your Apartment?
Throughout the academic year, The Courtyards Management Team is asked to provide tours for visitors from other
universities, as well as students who are interested in living at The Courtyards. The Courtyards consistently remains at full capacity; therefore, occupied apartments must be used for
these tours. The tour apartments will be selected based on the following criteria:
o Willingness of all of the residents in the apartment to allow entry into the common areas and bedrooms (with at least 24 hours notice, when possible) o Commitment by all of the residents in the apartment to present an attractive unit for all tours o Unit decorations that are attractive and show Courtyards in the best light (Staff will visit all apartments that apply)
Each apartment that participates in the Courtyards Tour
Program will receive a reward for use of their
apartment. Residents are not required to be home while the tours are being conducted.
If you are interested in applying to participate in this
opportunity, please contact the Associate Director, David McGarvey,
for the application. You may also come into the office be-tween Monday and Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM to pick up an
application. The deadline to apply is January 7, 2015.
Helpful Garbage Disposal Tips Please follow these handy tips for keeping your garbage disposal working & clean
1. Do not throw fibrous foods in the disposal (e.g. celery, onions, husked foods), the twist around the blades and cause damage.
2. Do not pour grease, fats, or other oils down the drains as they build up and clog both the pipes and the disposal. This often causes foul odors.
3. Do not throw away garbage in the disposal regardless of size. These items include paper, metal, plastic, glass, and wood. If any of these items happen to fall into the
disposal please place a work order to have a maintenance staff member remove the items for you.
4. Hard to grind items should not be put in the disposal. This includes bones, rice, pasta and other starchy foods which cause clogs in the system.
5. Clean your drain regularly with an all-purpose cleaners, vinegar, or citrus fruits to help cut grease and clear odors.
