SPECIAL FEATURE

This is a brief summary of just some of the things that have happened in your neighbourhood (and ours) over the last month. Remember, you can call us In Case Of Anything. Here’s the proof.

‘Beam’ me up, Marshall!

Did you know that a team of burglars can get onto your property, break into your home, go shopping for all your expensive jewelry and electronics, leave a mess and disappear, in under 4 minutes? That would be impressive, if it wasn’t so damn scary. And that’s without even considering that you may be at home at the time.

This is why we strongly recommend the use of outdoor beams. Outdoor beams, when connected to your alarm system, are an excellent early warning device. They alert you (if you’re home), your security company (us) and the would be burgler that you’re on to them… and that we’re on the way. With the element of surprise taken out of the equation, and a lot of attention being drawn to them from the blaring sirens, these burglers feel the pressure and on many occassions will cancel their plans, or will rush them, limiting what they can get away with. Their fear of being caught outstripping their desire for your flat screen TV.

Some options to consider:

Point to point beams• Range is from 10 to 100 meters • As the name suggests they work in pairs. i.e. When something/someone breaks the signal connection by walking between the two beams, the alarm is triggered. • These beams are generally affixed to areas where access would be likely. • They can be mounted on walls, poles or brackets. • These are active beams that work with a clear line of sight.

Motion Detectors• With a 90-degree angle and a range of about 10 meters, these work best when affixed to the outer walls of your house. • They are designed to pick up movement. • Detectors can pick up movement from mounting height to about 45 degree’s down. This means they can even be triggered by burglars that try to keep low to the ground. The height they are affixed to the wall at, makes it almost impossible to jump over the beam as well.

If you would like to find out more, or would like a free assessment of your properties weak spots with some suggested solutions, please

The python was estimated to be over 4 metres long and ap-proximately 30kgs. Jason also extracted a whole clutch of empty eggshells from the den.The pythons were taken to a new den that was created in the north section of Hawaan Forest and they all seem to have settled down well in their new home, which is well concealed.
