SWBAT: I will recognize the geometric relationship between the area of a square and the length of its sides as being the square root. Example: The

square root of 49 is 7.

The square root of 60 is not a perfect square but I know it is in between the square root of 49 and the square root of 64.

*Hand out class work, ESTIMATING SQUARE ROOT ACTIVITY, which is found on my front desk.

Each pair of students gets one sheet, do not hand out a sheet to each student or you will run out of copies.

These are corrections to the directions on the activity.

*Have students work on pairs doing numbers 2-5 ***SKIP THE FIRST STEP***

*Students, you will be placing the number chips on the number line taped to your desk.

*You will be deciding where to place each square root from 1-16. (You will not be using post it notes like the direction says, You will instead be using the chips found on your desk). SKIP THE FIRST STEP

*This is a partner activity. Work together in your seatsTo complete the task.
