Caffina Café Display
We’re taking over the display
boards outside the Caffina Café
(the coffee shop on the first floor of
the Nebraska Union)! For the first
week of October, there will be
history month information and
historical tidbits, followed by the
Women’s Center’s display on Week
Without Violence, then for the
remainder of the month you can
see hype for The Night of the Living
Drag Show.
Jericho Brown Reading
Renowned poet and associate
professor in English and Creative
Writing at Emory University in
Atlanta, Jericho Brown will be at
UNL on Wednesday October 5,
reading some of his works. Join us
at 7pm in the Nebraska Union’s
Colonial Room to listen to the
award-winning Jericho Brown.
History Month Dinner
The LGBTQA+ History Month Dinner is only a few days away! For the
14th year, we will be hosting a dinner to celebrate the contributions
made in the Lincoln and wider Nebraska LGBTQA+ community. UNL’s
own Stacey Waite will be our MC this year and the award-winning poet
Jericho Brown will be our speaker.
Once again, the venue will be held at the Cornhusker Hotel in
downtown Lincoln. There is a parking garage attached to the building for
easy access to the dinner. We will begin at 6:00pm on Thursday
October 6.
A vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free option will be available. Delicious
desserts will be served after the dinner.
In addition to food, we have a raffle courtesy of local businesses.
Night of the Living Drag
Countdown
The October drag show quickly
approaches! Final performer cuts
happen October 3. The Party at the
Union mini show and the How to Do
Drag Workshop were both a great hit,
and we’re looking forward to this
year’s Night of the Living Drag Show.
The show will be Friday October 28,
from 8pm - 10pm in the Centennial
Room in the Nebraska Union. If you
are hungry during the show, there
will be a bake sale and Pepsi
products (free with NCard) in the
back of the room.
Thank you to all the hard work of the
performers, volunteers, The Change,
and Spectrum UNL!

you do not want to miss this guest lecture. As a part of this year’s
Humanities on the Edge series, Dr. Sue J. Kim will be presenting a lecture
on “Postmodern Fatigue: Post-Racial Fallacies.” Dr. Kim is a professor

“cutting edge” research topics in the humanities. This year’s central topic
focuses around race and the idea of “post-racial” futures. Now in its
