Happy holiday season to our friends and...

Once again it is fall, almost year end and holiday season. We hope you have had a great year and wish you and your families a happy peaceful holiday season. Viktor and I have had a good year. With Viktor’s “green thumb” and the Lord’s help we had another wonderful summer of fresh fruits and vegetables from the garden and many beautiful flowers from the yard in the house. It has become difficult to write a newsletter because there has been little change in things in Donetsk in the past four years. The political unrest and conflict continues, keep- ing incomes and pensions low and prices high. There is still a feeling of insecurity and low moral in the lives of those living in that part of Ukraine. The Proletarsky congregation meets faithfully every week and are still blessed to have two capable preachers, Vasiliy and Misha and a song leader, Pasha. The members are hap- py to spend time together each Lord’s day and do a good job look- ing after each other. I mentioned that Misha and his wife, Anya, had moved back to Proletarsky, but recently was told that Anya passed away before he returned. They lost their home and documents in the war. Misha has applied for new documents, but is still waiting on those. In October, one of the older ladies, Ekaterina, passed away after being in poor health for several years and suffering a stroke. Sev- eral of you know her daughter, Katya, who was an interpreter at the Ukraine Bible Institute in Do- netsk. She and her mother attend- ed worship until Ekaterina became too sick. Katya was a faithful care giver. The ladies continue to meet at the home of Alexandra on Tuesdays for a Bible study. This is especially important since Alexandra is unable to leave her 5th floor apartment because of her severe arthritis. She is thankful to have Christian friends . Once again it is fall, almost year end and holiday season. We hope you have had a great

year and wish you and your families a happy peaceful holiday season.

Viktor and I have had a good year. With Viktor’s “green thumb” and the Lord’s help

we had another wonderful summer of fresh fruits and vegetables from the garden and

many beautiful flowers from the yard in the house.

It has become difficult to write a newsletter because there has been little change in

things in Donetsk in the past four years. The political unrest and conflict continues, keep-

ing incomes and pensions low and prices high. There is still a feeling of insecurity and low

moral in the lives of those living in that part of Ukraine.

The Proletarsky congregation meets faithfully every week and are still blessed to have

two capable preachers, Vasiliy and Misha and a song leader, Pasha. The members are hap-

py to spend time together each

Lord’s day and do a good job look-

ing after each other.

I mentioned that Misha and his

wife, Anya, had moved back to

Proletarsky, but recently was told

that Anya passed away before he

returned. They lost their home

and documents in the war. Misha

has applied for new documents,

but is still waiting on those.

In October, one of the older

ladies, Ekaterina, passed away after

being in poor health for several

years and suffering a stroke. Sev-

eral of you know her daughter,

Katya, who was an interpreter at

the Ukraine Bible Institute in Do-

netsk. She and her mother attend-

ed worship until Ekaterina became

too sick. Katya was a faithful care

giver.

The ladies continue to meet at the home of Alexandra on Tuesdays for a Bible study.

This is especially important since Alexandra is unable to leave her 5th floor apartment

because of her severe arthritis. She is thankful to have Christian friends .

Christ For Ukraine

Many of you will remember Christina, who was such a joy

and help to the congregation during her teen years and

left this life at an early age. Because of her influence, her

mother is still a Christian and brings her granddaughter,

also Christina, to worship with her. We thank the Lord

for the time we had Christina here on earth.

Diana, the daughter of Rita and Pasha, with the help

of hearing aids is able to attend the regular school. She

began 1st grade in September and was chosen to be the

bell ringer to open classes. She was placed on the shoul-

der of one of the oldest boys and rang the bell as they

walked around the circle of other students and parents.

We are proud of her and miss seeing her grow up.

The hospital for children with AIDS is still operating in

Makeevka and thanks to the ladies in Waterford, MI, we

are still able to send them funds. They now have 81 chil-

dren, which is about 20 more than they used to have.

The government still supplies medicine and food, but not

for fresh vegetables, fruits and personal items. Ludmila,

the assistant director, sends a big “thank you” from the

hospital and the children for your help.

For many years we watched after a young man, Vitya.

Ray Grayham was instrumental in getting him into a home

for children who had parents, but were unable to care

for them. Vitya was very behind in school and for many years we

helped supply a tutor to work with him and other children in the

home. Last year, Vitya finished a technical school to become a

builder and is now attending the Makeevka City University studying

economics. It is a joy to know that we were able to have a part in

making a better life for this young man.

We close with thanks to all of you who have continued to send

support, which we send monthly to people in Ukraine. God bless

you and keep you.

In Christian Love,

Viktor and Lynn Tretiakov
