“You have been commissioned by the Northern Echo to produce a new magazine or newspaper product. Your product could be in any style or genre but it must be self financed through sales or advertising. You must also produce your magazine for a specified audience segment within the 16 to 25 age group.”

Therefore the magazine I produce will be for this age

group, but as it may be read by an older audience/parents it can’t be rude and also has to be appealing so that they do not slate it straight away.

The Northern Echo like to cater for a secondary audience, which means:No extreme taboo languageNo extreme nakednessNothing insulting/offensive/inappropriate

As there’s a range of readers, it has to be suitable.

To make a music magazine based in the north east for both genders of teens aged from 17-24.

The audience will be ABC1 and will still be in education, preferably young alternatives.

To have one local band interview, to have one ‘how to’ article that is humorous, and to have an interesting article that appeals to everyone on how lyrics affect society.

The name HAPPY DAZE, is keeping on the ‘sex drugs & rock n roll’ music theme, daze is a play on the word days but also a drifted state of mind from drugs.

The title Under the Influence of Music is keeping on the same theme but is an informative article.

“I think that there is a gap in the market for your magazine as there aren’t really any local

music magazines around.”

“There are some really good music magazines out there but yours seems different

and more relatable.”

“The different kind of

articles you plan on

including are really unique

and interesting.”

“I love reading about new bands and also love human interest articles, this is two combined and even better.”

The tribe I am designing my magazine for is the young alternative tribe they are a wide range of teens and I think they’re easy to target as I know plenty of them. Here are a few things that I think interest them; from music, clubbing/activities, clothes and websites to festivals.
