Session Objectives
• Provide you with habits to make your teaching journey easier, happier, and more effective for you and your students.
•Demonstrate engagement strategies to use in your classroom to benefit student learning outcomes.
• Encourage the consistent implementation of "happy teacher habits" for effective instruction.
1. What is one personal learning need that you have right now?
• Think about it, write it down and take ownership.
2. What SPARK session(s) will you attend (or already have) that will help support you in moving toward this goal?
“It’s not where you start, it’s how you finish!”Gabe Sonnier
“The best teachers understand that the key to unlocking student potential is by developing positive, respectful relationships with their students beginning on the first day of the school year.”

Establishing RULES:
*A rule regulates a serious offense.
*When a student breaks the rule,
a consequence follows.
Examples:1-Arrive on time.
2-Keep food and drinks out of computer area.3-Use technology for
learning.
Implementing PROCEDURES:
*A procedure is simply a way that you want something to be done in your classroom.
*When a student does not follow a procedure, you
remind him of the procedure and practice it with him
if necessary.
Examples:1-Creating a system for
restroom use2-Collecting work
3-Ending the class efficiently
SWAYBuild trust and
influence by being consistently pleasant and
relying on your classroom
management plan.
Narrow
Happy Habit:
The point…
is that in virtually every industry or
endeavor,
just a few things make the greatest
difference.
Understanding this rule just may be the foundation for anything you want to achieve
in the most effective manner.
The majority of effects come from
a minority of causes.
Shift
Happy Habit:
“Far more than talent or intelligence,
it is hard work that is the secret to success.”
Teach great lessons…
Give your best to your students.Foster in them a GROWTH MINSET.
Then, turn the reigns over to them and let them grow.
and then
shiftresponsibility in total to your students.
“Grit is a combination of passion and perseverance, a belief that failure can be overcome. It’s a willingness to conquer challenges, instead of avoid them.”
Grit says, “I’ve got this.”
Listen
Happy Habit:
“Over the years I’ve had the chance to observe many classrooms. Teachers will ask if I can come in and ask how they might improve.
In almost every case, the first thing I tell them is they talk too much.”
