OUR PARISH MISSION STATEMENT

The Parish of St. John Bosco is a multi-cultural, multi-lingual Catholic Faith community that proclaims Jesus Christ. In the spirit of St. John Bosco, we do this by being a Home that welcomes all especially the young and the poor; a School that

prepares for life through religious, educational and social services; a Parish that evangelizes through Word & Sacrament, Worship and Faith Formation; a Playground where lasting friendship and relationships are formed and developed through

recreational and social opportunities.

Happy 4th Anniversary to each of us in our beautiful Parish of St. John Bosco! It has been four years since the first night on August 1, 2017 when we placed the four stones representing the cornerstone of our new parish made up of Our Lady of Mercy, Our Lady of the Holy Rosary, Sacred Heart of Jesus and Corpus Christi! We placed the stones around the Pascal Candle — Jesus alone would be the rock on which we would build our new parish! Much has happened in these years! The parish and the struggles of forming a new parish are certainly a part of it. However, there is also the joys, graces and blessings we have received and receive as we continue to know each other better and build up the Body of Christ in our parish which comprises all of Port Chester and Rye Brook! I am thinking of the 845 Baptisms, 548 First Communions, 526 Confirmations and 120 Marriages that have taken place in these four years! And this — in spite of the pandemic which put us in lock down! God is at work in our parish and today we want to thank Him and celebrate that gift in a special way! Each year, we have tried to do some little thing to remember and celebrate the importance of this day. You may remember that last year all the groups in the parish contributed to the purchase of a new and beauti-ful Chalice which we use everyday at Mass — the cen-ter of our parish life. This year we will also do some-thing to celebrate the day. First, in this Year of St. Joseph and following the lead of our Archbishop, we will dedicate our parish to St. Joseph placing us under his protection in a special way. A beautiful picture of St. Joseph will be blessed and placed in the lobby with a plaque remembering the occasion. Second, we all know our Brother Dan Glass will soon depart for the missions. The Rector Major has given him his assignment and after a few months of emersion in French, he will be heading to the Congo in Africa! His presence has been a blessing for our parish in this year! This Sunday at the 11AM Mass and 1PM Mass, both in the main Church, we will have a mission send-off ceremony for Brother Dan. Our parish, on its fourth anniversary, is sending one of our own to proclaim the Gospel in the missions! What a gift and blessing from the Parish of St. John Bosco to the people of the Congo! As we celebrate this anniversary, with hearts full of gratitude, we seize on this day to recommit ourselves to a deeper life of holiness and prayer, to a more active participation in parish life and to a more effective proclamation of the Gospel here in Port Chester/Rye Brook! ¡Feliz 4to Aniversario a cada uno de nosotros en nuestra hermosa Parroquia de San Juan Bosco! Han pasado cuatro años desde la primera noche del 1 de agosto del 2017 cuando colocamos las cuatro piedras que representan la piedra angular de nuestra nueva parroquia compuesta por Nuestra Señora de la Merced, Nuestra Señora del Santo Rosario, Sagrado Corazón de Jesús y Corpus Christi! Colocamos las piedras alrededor de la Vela Pascual — ¡Solo Jesús sería la roca sobre la que construiríamos nuestra nueva parroquia! Han pasado muchas cosas en estos años! La parroquia y las luchas de formar una nueva parroquia son ciertamente una parte de ella. Este domingo, en la Misa de las 11AM y la misa de la 1PM, ambas en la Iglesia principal, tendremos una ceremonia de despedida de la misión para el hermano Dan. Nuestra parroquia, en su cuarto aniversario, está enviando a uno de los nuestros a proclamar el Evangelio en las misiones! ¡Qué regalo y bendición de la Parroquia de San Juan Bosco al pueblo del Congo! Al celebrar este aniversario, con los corazones llenos de gratitud, aprovechamos este día para volver a comprometernos con una vida más profunda de santidad y oración, con una participación más activa en la vida parroquial y con una proclamación más efectiva del Evangelio aquí en Port Chester / Rye Brook! ¡Feliz aniversario y que Dios los bendiga!

Feliz aniversário para todos nós no quarto aniversário da nossa paróquia de São João Bosco! Já faz quatro anos desde da primeira noite de 1o. De Agosto de 2017 quando colocamos as quatro pedras basilares representando Nossa Senhora da Misericórdia, Nossa Senhora do Rosário, Sagrado Coração de Jesus e Corpus Christi! Colocamos as quatro pedras em torno do Círio Pascal, Jesus Cristo, que seria a pedra em torno da qual construiremos nossa nova paróquia. Muitas coisas aconteceram nestes quatro anos! Os problemas iniciais para formar uma nova paróquia certamente foram parte desta história. No entanto, houveram muitas alegrias, graças e bençãos recebidas, enquanto continuamos a crescer, nos conhecermos melhor e consolidarmos como Corpo de Cristo, como um sinal para Port Chester e Rye Brook. Eu estou pensando nos 845 Batismos, 548 crianças recebendo a Primeira Comunhão, 526 Crismas e 120 Casamentos que foram celebrados ao longo destes quatro anos. E isto tudo, mesmo tendo uma pandemia e fechamento da Igreja por longos meses. Deus tem trabalhado em nosso meio, a Ele devemos agradecer cada dom recebido de maneira especial! A cada ano temos feito algo para relembrar e celebrar a importância deste dia. Ano passado, cada grupo da paróquia contribuiu para a comprar de um bonito cálice que usamos diariamente nas Missas, o centro de vida paroquial. Neste ano, o Ano de São José e seguindo a liderança de nosso Arcebispo, dedicamos nossa paróquia a São José, colocando-a sob sua presença de maneira especial. Uma bela imagem de São José será abençoada em colocada no lobby da Igreja Matriz para marcar esta ocasião. Também sabemos que o Irmão Dan em breve partirá em missão. O Reitor-Mor lhe deu a tarefa de aprender francês e agora ele irá partir para o Congo, na África! Sua presença tem sido uma bênção para nossa paróquia neste ano. No domingo, nas missas das 11:00 e 13:00, na Igreja Matriz, teremos uma cerimônia de envio para a missão. Nossa paróquia estará enviando um de nós para proclamar o Evangelho em terras distantes! Que grande bênção para nossa paróquia e o povo do Congo! Hoje celebramos nosso aniversário, com o coração cheio de gratidão, aproveitamos a oportunidade para nos comprometer a ter uma vida mais santa, de mais oração e santidade, com ativa participação na vida paroquial, e para proclamar o Evangelho em Port Chester e Rye Brook! Szczęśliwej 4-tej Rocznicy dla każdego z nas w naszej parafii św. Jana Bosko! Minęły cztery lata od 1 sierpnia 2017 roku, kiedy umieściliśmy cztery kamienie przedstawiające kamień węgielny naszej nowej parafii, na którą składały się wspólnoty czterech kościołów: Matki Bożej Miłosierdzia, Matki Bożej Różańcowej, Najświętszego Serce Jezusa i Bożego Ciała! Umieściliśmy kamienie wokół świecy paschalnej — sam Jezus jest skałą, na której zbudowalibyśmy naszą nową parafię! Wiele się wydarzyło w tych czterech latach! Zmagania związane z utworzeniem nowej parafii są z pewnością częścią tego. Jednak są też radości, łaski i błogosławieństwa, które otrzymaliśmy iotrzymujemy, gdy coraz lepiej się poznajemy i budujemy ‘Ciało Chrystusa’ (kosciół) w naszej parafii, która obejmuje cały Port Chester i Rye Brook! Myślę o 845 chrztach, 548 pierwszych komuniach, 526 bierzmowaniach i 120 małżeństwach, które odbyły się w ciągu tych czterech lat! I to — pomimo pandemii, która nas zablokowała! Bóg działa w naszej parafii i dzisiaj chcemy Mu podziękować i uczcić ten dar w szczególny sposób! Każdego roku staraliśmy się zrobić coś szczególnego, aby podkreślić wagę tego dnia. Być może pamiętacie, że w ubiegłym roku wszystkie grupy w parafii przyczyniły się do zakupu nowego, pięknego kielicha, którego używamy na co dzień do sprawowania Mszy — centrum naszego życia parafialnego. Celebrating Sunday Throughout the Week 18th Sunday in Ordinary Time Gospel: John

6:24-35. In today’s Gospel, listen to hear why the people want Jesus to give them a sign.

One of the signs the people recalled was God giving their

ancestors manna in the desert. But the people are forgetting that, even back then, their ancestors complained about that manna. They got tired of it. In today’s Gospel, Jesus speaks of the true

Bread of God, which comes down from Heaven and gives life to the world. We receive this Bread of Heaven, the Body of Christ, when we receive Holy Communion. Write a thank-you note to

someone who has taught you about God. Be sure to share what you learned.

"Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations,

baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to observe

In this gospel passage, Jesus is commissioning his disciples, sending them forth, to preach the good

news and to bring all people to God through baptism. Jesus also calls the baptized today to

continue in this mission. What does this mean for you and me? By virtue of our baptism, we are called in some way to bring the "good news" of God's love,

mercy, and salvation to all those we encounter.

Perhaps God is calling you to be a prophet in a very specific way, as a catechist. Help us bring the message of God's love, mercy, and salvation to the next generation of faith. Help us fulfill our role as
