PARCC/NJSLA-S 2018 (Field Test) In 2015, New Jersey adopted the Partnership for Assessment of
Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) to replace the NJ ASK assessments in elementary and middle school language arts and mathematics
During the first year of PARCC (Spring 2015), students were tested in March/April on the Performance-Based Assessment (PBA) and in April/May on the End-of-Year Assessment (EOY). Scores were aggregated to include both portions of the assessment. Students are now tested once per year.
PARCC Assessments are computer-based
Students took PARCC in English Language Arts and Literacy (ELA/L) in grades 3-8
Students took PARCC Mathematics Assessments in grades 3-8, and an End-of-Course Assessment in Algebra I for those enrolled
A new Science test was developed for Spring 2018, the NJSLA-S. It is a new computer-based assessment focused on the Next Generation Science Standards. Spring 2018 was a “field test” year for the new assessment.
