Language and Culture Friday
Pormpuraaw School has started a traditional knowledge and learning program. Every Friday all students will learn history, geography, art and culture through tra-ditional language. The Year 6 girls took part in wonderful excursion, last week. The girls went to Cairns and visited a number of boarding schools, laying a solid foundation for suc-cess in 2018. The excursion was also a reward for their great attendance in 2017.

Year 6 Boys’ Melbourne Excursion
The boys were invited to Melbourne for the trip of a lifetime. The staff, host fami-lies and students of Brighton Grammar School went to incredible lengths to make the boys feel welcome. To the credit of the boys and the Pormpuraaw communi-ty, their behaviour was superb. The display of good manners and genuine warmth from the Year 6 boys was noticed and commented on regularly.

AFL visits
During Term 3 AFL Cape York ran highly engaging footy sessions. Both Josh and Lakken motivated students to excel not only at sport but to always try their best.
Attendance: Every Day counts
Pormpuraaw is widely regarded as being a great place to come to school. We have great families, students, classes, teachers and facilities. Most students are putting in a fantastic effort getting to school. The class with the best attendance so far this term is the Pre-prep. They are closely followed by the Year 1 and Prep classes. Recently the Pre-prep class had a marvellous day of face painting.
The Principal decided that it would good idea to let the artists in pre-prep paint his face. He learned a very important lesson about the difference between ability and ambition.
