I am writing this letter of reference as the founder of the restaurant. Hang has been a key member of the team at Velo. In fact, she is one of two longest-serving employees that joined Velo when it first opened its doors to customers in November 2011 and is still part of the Velo team. She first started as a team member preparing food and serving customers. From the very beginning she stood out as a hard-working and reliable employee. Over time, she was given more responsibilities in the operation of the restaurant as I recognised that she was also capable of taking on administrative and supervisory duties. She increasingly became involved with all aspects of office administration, from ordering supplies to stock control to handling customer queries, and supervision of staff. Within less than a year, she was entrusted with holding the restaurant key to manage the operation on her own on certain days or shifts when the manager or I was absent. Following another short period of time her responsibilities grew to include accounting and book-keeping duties. These went hand in hand with her studying an ACCA course which proved to be useful for her taking on these additional responsibilities. In addition to her duties mentioned above, she was now also handling all aspects of bookkeeping and co- ordination with our external account. These included entering invoices into Sage and managing and checking all accounting documents. Assigning these tasks to her has obviates the need for hiring an external bookkeeper. In performing her duties, she has constantly proven to be meticulous and conscientious. Above all, she has a highly inquisitive and curious mind. A fast learner, she is a very hard worker and carries out her job in a highly responsible manner. She often takes on responsibilities that exceed the levels expected of her. As a responsible and ambitious employee, she not only adhered to the strict processes but also made an effort to independently think about improvements to those processes including further guidelines and approached management to put forward recommendations for improvements. Hang also has demonstrated leadership skills, being able to manage the restaurant and supervise other staff independently. She is also very effective at dealing with conflict situations. As customary in a high-pressured environment such as in a restaurant, often tensions can exist between team members. She has dealt with those situations very well by understanding other staff members' motivations and reconciled with them accordingly. She also has a great capacity and willingness to learn from past mistakes. Not only has she been effective at office administration. She also understands customer service well. She has always been friendly to customers and served them well. Hang has demonstrated to be a reliable, honest and ambitious employee. She has worked long hours at the restaurant during her studies and managed to carry out both work and studies exceptionally well. The entire above are commendable attributes, which she has demonstrated in many situations during her work at Velo which give me the fullest confidence that she possesses all the capabilities required for success in her subsequent career.
