Why go 1:1?
2012
The Victorian Department of Education and Early Childhood Development iPads for
Learning Trial…
Found enormously positive results, particularly in primary schools
Why go 1:1?

• Effective use of iPads can lead to all of these outcomes
The trial found:
Why go 1:1?
- Since the successful DEECD trial, many primary and secondary schools adopted 1:1 programs
- This provided a great blueprint for our 2014 trial
- Our experiences, reflections and learning from the trial allowed us to successfully implement the official B.Y.O
iPad in 2015
- Student survey results indicate high levels of engagement and enjoyment for learning as well as improvements in
organisation, independence and self-responsibility.

What have our students said?
What have our students said?
“I love to research and collaborate with others and work together using the iPad. It is simple to share information and work so that everyone can contribute and add on
to different pieces of work.”
“Having my own iPad gives me real control over my
learning”
“I think the best thing about using my iPad at school is that it has engaged me more in my
learning. I feel like it has made me more independent and more capable because it is
easier for me to find information. I have shown my parents what I was doing at school and they thought it was amazing with what I could do on
my iPad”
“You can take your work home and
continue it there or that you can learn
anytime you want!”
