Academic Programmes Available

Hamilton Boys’ High School is a traditional boys school which prides itself on its fine academic and sporting successes.

Located on a 50 acre campus, it is close to the city centre. Hamilton is a city of 200,000 people, situated 90 minutes south of Auckland International Airport.

Overseas students are welcome members of the school community at Hamilton Boys’ High School.

Student numbers from each country are limited.

The Director of International Students, Ms Tonia Heeps:

Is responsible for the personal wellbeing of all the International students.

Meets regularly with each student and liaises with their teachers and with their homestay families.

Keeps in regular contact with the student’s family off-shore.

Is the link between the school, the student, and the home.

The International Centre is the base for the ESOL department and for the International students at Hamilton Boys’ High School.

All Students are encouraged to choose to study subjects which will meet their future career plans

Special Support Programmes for International Students

1. ESOL classes at all levels, taught by qualified and experienced teachers. Students in these classes study for NCEA and IELTS qualifications.

2. Free extra tuition in their core subjects, if required.

3. Weekly support groups with senior leaders.

4. A wide range of subjects available to meet students’ future career plans.

5. Cultural groups and mentors.

Co-Curricular Activities

Hamilton Boys’ High School campus is situated on a 50 acre site, close to the city centre.

International Students are encouraged to participate in one of the many sports and other co-curricular activities.

Sports available at all levels of ability are: Rugby, Football, Hockey, Rowing, Athletics, Swimming, Water Polo, Volleyball, Table-tennis, Squash, In-line Hockey, Tennis, Cycling, Mountain Biking, Golf, Basketball, Touch, Kayaking, Skiing, Softball, Surfing, Yachting, Badminton and 7’s Rugby.

Other co-curricular activities include:Choir, Debating, SAFE, Mentoring, Film club, Gaming club, Creative Writing, Jazz Band, Digital Photography club, Theatre Sports, Oratory, Art, Culture groups and individual instrumental tutoring.
