The Five Pillars of Islam

The holy religion of Islam has five primary obligations, or pillars of faith, which must be fulfilled by every Muslim in his or her lifetime.

The five pillars of Islam are as follows:Shahadah – Belief

Salah – PrayerMust pray five times a dayMust face MakkahNo matter where you are, make sure to pray

Zakat – Charity

• Everything comes from Allah• Must give to less fortunate• Give meal or money in charity

Sawn – Fasting• Fast during the holy month of Ramadan• No eating or drinking during the day• Show utmost sacrifice

Hajj – Pilgrimage• Must make a pilgrimage to Makkah• Refrain from sex, haircuts, jewelry, arguing, etc.
