Haiti was struck by an earthquake on 12 January 2010. The massive destruction resulted in a death toll of 230,000, 300,000 injured and 1,000,000 made homeless. Haiti thus clearly needed to be entirely rebuilt from the ground up.

The students brainstormed a couple of ideas to raise funds, which included a charity carwash and even selling of cookies/brownies/muffins/cupcakes.

The CTSS Student Council has a total strength of 41. There are 3 Student Council teachers.

As Caring Clementeens with the heart to help beyond their own community, the CTSS Student Council eventually decided to collaborate with a group of CTSS alumni and sought to raise awareness of Haiti’s plight amongst their fellow schoolmates by selling T-shirts designed by the alumni. Profits go to Charity Water, a non-profit organisation supplying clean water to the people of Haiti.

Leveraging on the work already started off by the alumni (who were ex-councillors), the team embarked on a plan to hype up and encourage the sales of the T-Shirts. The powerpoint presentation we submitted for our entry was the publicity video used to reach out to the school population and spread the awareness of the Haitians' plight -- the destruction caused by the quake, and the aftermath fact that clean water is a scare luxury to them.

The students had set for themselves a target of collecting $2000, and they actually exceeded this target with a final total sale of $3550.
