Ayats about honey/bees

The Qur’an says, “Bees were inspired through inborn advice by the Rabb, instructing: ‘Make hives in mountains, in trees and in that which they (humans) build. Then eat of all the fruits and follow the ways of your Rabb submissively. There comes out from within (their bodies) a drink of various hues (honey), in it is healing (effect) for humans. Verily in this is a sign for the people who consider it.’” (Surah 16, Ayats 68-69)

How bees make honey

Worker bee sucks nectar from flowers, it is stored in a special honey stomach which it uses as a "nectar backpack". This is completely separate from the digestive stomach.

Page 12: Hadith Session 5

How bees make honey

Bee returning to the hive with a load of nectar is almost immediately greeted by other worker “house bees” ready to relieve it of the load.

The bee vomits the nectar into the mouth of the other “house bee”.

Page 13: Hadith Session 5

How bees make honey

These "house bees" "chew" the nectar for about half an hour. During this time, enzymes are breaking the complex sugars in the nectar into simple sugars so that it is both more digestible for the bees and less likely to be attacked by bacteria while it is stored within the hive.

How bees make honey

The bees vomit the processed nectar and spread it throughout the hive where it becomes honey.

Hadith – Figs

“Eat figs! If I would say a certain type of fruit was sent down to us from the heavens I would say it’s a fig because it has no seeds. It cures hemorrhoids and is useful for rheumatism.” (arthritis and gout)

Page 20: Hadith Session 5

Figs

Figs are a top source of fiber, as well as potassium and vitamin B6.

Just one fig provides 20% of the USRDA of fiber.

Page 21: Hadith Session 5

Figs

Fiber results in bulkier stools, which lessen the incidence of constipation, hemorrhoids and colon cancer.

Fiber also lowers cholesterol and the risk of heart disease.

Page 22: Hadith Session 5

Hadith – Olives

“Eat the olive oil and apply it (locally), since there is cure for seventy diseases in it, one of them is Leprosy.”

Page 23: Hadith Session 5

Olives

Olive oil plays an important role in the prevention of heart disease and cardiovascular accidents.

The fatty acids and antioxidants found in olive oil help to maintain healthy cholesterol levels and protect the arteries.

Page 24: Hadith Session 5

Olives

Olive oil also contains a natural chemical, called oleocanthal, which acts as a painkiller.

A recent study found that oleocanthal inhibits the enzyme activity in inflammation in the same way that drugs like Ibuprofen do. (good for muscle strain and joint sprain)
