A) CHAPTER 00 – INTRODUCTION

Effectivity For aircraft effectivity, refer to mod document H4A1675. Description

Modification H4A1675 installs a Honeywell TPA-100B TCAS II version 7.1 in place of a Honeywell TPA-81A or TPA-100A TCAS II version 7.0 on the Boeing B737 aircraft listed above. An EC mandate was issued on December 20th 2011 for implementing TCAS Change 7.1 for aircraft operating in European airspace. The mandate calls for Change 7.1 software to be installed on all existing aircraft using TCAS II products by December 2015. Once Change 7.1 is installed, operators will be compliant with MOPS D0185B. The Honeywell TPA-100B TCAS II Traffic Computer, p/n 940-0351-XXX is installed in place of the existing Honeywell TPA-81A TCAS computer p/n 066-50000-xxxx or TPA-100A computer p/n 940-0300-XXX in the same location. The original tray remains and no wiring changes are necessary. The TPA-100B is fully compliant with ETSO-119c including both RTCA/DO-185B for TCAS II change 7.1 and RTCA/DO-300 for Hybrid Surveillance. As well as several operational improvements, Change 7.1 introduces two main safety improvements to the TCAS system; proposal 112E corrects missed and late reversals and proposal 115 changes the current aural warning from ‘Adjust Vertical Speed, Adjust’ to ‘Level Off, Level Off’. TPA-100B is software upgradable for Hybrid Surveillance but this is not enabled at this time. The existing Mode ‘S’ system is unaffected. The incorporation of H4Aerospace (UK) Ltd. modification H4A1675 to the aircraft obligates the aircraft operator to include the following maintenance information provided by this report in the owner/operators Aircraft Maintenance Manuals and the owner/operator’s aircraft Scheduled Maintenance Program in accordance with 25.1529. These Instructions for Continued Airworthiness supplement the Basic aircraft maintenance documents for a Boeing 737 aircraft. These instructions are not complete without the basic OEM aircraft maintenance documents developed for these series.

Scheduling Not affected

Degree of Inspection Unless otherwise dictated by local policy and procedures, the inspection criteria to be applied to the components of the modification are limited to General Visual Inspection to be performed in conjunction with the inspections previously established by the current owner/operator of the aircraft.

Storage Limitations All components removed from the aircraft for storage during the performance of maintenance will be protected from the local environment and condition in accordance with policy and procedures established by the current owner/operator of the aircraft.

Special Procedures There are no special procedures unique to the modification. Troubleshooting A. Troubleshooting of the systems installed by the modification will consist of:

(1) Analysis of discrepancy reports provided by the flight crew and passengers. (2) Functional tests of the affected systems to isolate the faulty components/units

utilizing the appropriate block diagrams contained within the system chapter and the wiring diagrams contained in Volume III of this document set (Wiring Diagrams).

B. A functional test will be performed on affected systems prior to restoration to service.

Repair A. Repair of electronic components introduced by the modification will be limited to:

(1) Repair of the electronic units on the aircraft will be limited to the removal of the faulty unit and installation of a new replacement unit.

Aircraft Status for Maintenance A. Unless otherwise noted, all maintenance manual procedures are done with the aircraft on

the ground, after normal flight, and with shutdown checklist complete. B. Maintenance is performed on the aircraft without power unless power is specifically called

for. Replacement of Equipment The policy for replacement of equipment is unchanged from the OEM documentation.

B) APPROVAL

The technical content of this document and supporting reports and drawings listed herein are approved under the authority of EASA DOA No EASA.21.J.087 and H4 Aerospace modification H4A1675.

C) CHAPTER 04 - AIRWORTHINESS LIMITATIONS 1. Airworthiness Limitations

A. This chapter, inclusive of all of its sections and subsections, identifies the airworthiness limitations for the B737 with H4 Aerospace modification H4A1675 embodied.

B. The Airworthiness Limitations Section is approved and variations must also be

approved.

C. The Airworthiness Limitations Section is FAA approved and specifies maintenance

required under 14 CFR §43.16 and 91.403, unless an alternative program has been FAA approved.

D. The Airworthiness Limitations sections of the Applicable Manuals have been

reviewed and no new limitations are introduced. E. The airworthiness limitations cannot be changed without EASA Design

Organization approval.

2. Mandatory Replacement/Inspection Requirements There are no structural inspection intervals developed as a result of this modification that require approval under CS25.571.

3. Critical Design Configuration Control Limitations No mandatory operational tests or mandatory inspection exists as a result of this modification that requires approval under CS25.981 for the fuel tank system.

4. Certification Maintenance Requirements The modification, as performed on this aircraft, did not create any certification maintenance requirements”.

5. Intervals

A. Any intervals provided in this chapter, its sections, and its subsections are mandatory.

B. The owner/operator may not extend any of the intervals for inspections and/or checks provided in this chapter. The owner/operator may elect to perform any inspections and/or checks listed in this chapter at reduced intervals based on experience and schedule.

6. Revisions

A. Revisions impacting Chapter 04, Airworthiness Limitations, will be approved by the appropriate EASA approved design organization in conjunction with EASA.

B. Revisions to any part of the Instructions for Continued Airworthiness not otherwise approved by EASA will not be submitted without appropriate engineering authority approval. This includes customer requested revisions.

C. Delivery (1) Revisions to any part of this document set may be delivered by any practical

means, including paper copy, email with Adobe® PDF files, and/or CD-ROM (2) Revisions will be accompanied with a Letter of Document Transmittal.

CHAPTER 04-20 – MANDATORY INSPECTIONS – INSPECTION/CHECK

1. General

A. The operation checks and inspections listed must be performed as scheduled.

Failure to perform the operational checks and inspections as scheduled will be considered as reason to ground the aircraft.

B. Inspection intervals are expressed as follows:

(1) HR - Aircraft Operating Hours (2) YR - Calendar Year (3) CY – Aircraft Cycles

2. Systems and Powerplant

The scheduled Maintenance instruction tasks required by this modification shall be added to the aircraft owner/operator’s appropriate airplane maintenance program.

3. Structures

The scheduled Maintenance instruction tasks required by this modification shall be added to the aircraft owner/operator’s appropriate airplane maintenance program. The appropriate paperwork should be raised for the requirements as follows: This modification has not impacted any changes to the aircraft primary structure. There are no additional inspection requirements required above the existing baseline zonal inspections required by the MPD.

CHAPTER 04-20 – MANDATORY INSPECTIONS – EWIS

A. The EZAP standard tasks and inspection intervals are considered unaffected by

the modification.

B. The modification has been reviewed per the guidance provided in FAA AC 25-27A. It has been determined that the modification does not necessitate a revision to the EWIS ICA that were required to be developed by § 26.11(b) (OR) § 25.1729

D) CHAPTER 05 – TIME LIMITS/MAINTENANCE CHECKS

There are no known time limits and/or maintenance checks developed or required as a result of this modification There are no known existing time limits and/or maintenance checks previously identified by the OEM that are impacted by this modification.

E) CHAPTER 06 – DIMENSIONS AND AREAS

There are no changes to the aircraft dimensions or areas as a result of this modification.

F) CHAPTER 07 – LIFTING AND SHORING

There are no changes to the methods or practices of aircraft lifting and shoring as a result of this modification.

G) CHAPTER 08 – LEVELLING AND WEIGHING

There are no changes to the aircrafts method of levelling and weighing as a result of this modification.

There are no changes to the aircrafts method of towing and taxiing as a result of this modification.

L) CHAPTER 34 – NAVIGATION

CHAPTER 34.45 – TCAS System 1. General

This chapter contains operational information for the TCAS Computer installed as part of modification H4A1675.

2. Control and Operation

The TCAS Computer forms part of the TCAS system, it is controlled by the ATC/TCAS control unit (34-53-31) which is installed in the Pedestal P8 and TCAS information is displayed either on the EFIS displays or Weather Radar (TA) and VSI’s (RA) depending on aircraft configuration.

TPA-100B TCAS II Traffic Computer p/n 940-0351-XXX 4. Equipment Location

The TCAS Computer is installed in the Electronic Equipment bay on rack E1-1, E2-2, E2-3 or E3-4 depending on aircraft configuration.

C. Removal Procedure

1. Ensure that power to aircraft is OFF (24-22-00/201). Open and safety tag circuit breaker (C1195), (CB913 - PP410 only), (CB9028 - PQ231 only) - TCAS’ on P18-1 panel. Gain access to E1-1, E2-2, E2-3 or E3-4 shelf (depending on aircraft configuration).

2. Loosen clamps. 3. Lower clamps. 4. Pull TCAS COMPUTER from its rack to disconnect electrical

connectors. 5. Remove TCAS COMPUTER.

6. Put Blanking caps on electrical connectors on rack.

D. Replacement Procedure 1. Gain access to E1-1, E2-2, E2-3 or E3-4 shelf (depending on TCAS

configuration). 2. Clean TCAS COMPUTER interface and adjacent area. 3. Remove blanking cap from electrical connector 4. Inspect the electrical connector. 5. Install TCAS COMPUTER on its rack. 6. Engage clamps on studs and tighten. 7. Remove the safety tag and close circuit breaker (C1195), (CB913 -

PP410 only), (CB9028 - PQ231 only) - TCAS’ on P18-1 panel. Restore power to the aircraft (24-22-00/201)

8. Perform the TCAS Operational Test

a) Align the IRS (34-28-01/201) b) On the ATC/TCAS control panel, enable TEST for one second. c) Ensure “TCAS SYSTEM TEST OK” is heard on the cockpit

speakers.

9. Put aircraft back to its usual condition; remove power (24-22-00/201) if it’s no longer required.

7. Troubleshooting

There are no special inspection requirements.
