7-in. ArmadaSampling System

e Armada® sampling system is specifically designed to operate in normal or hostilecased-hole environments for extended periods of time. e state-of-the art smoothbore design with ceramic coated Inconel® samplers allows the tool to be run with upto nine samplers plus one or more pressure/temperature gauges to monitorbottomhole conditions. e samplers utilize a positive displacement sample chamberand a nitrogen pressure compensation system to ensure that the collected samplemaintains pressure during recovery. e Armada sampling system is available in a5- and 7-in. version.

Annulus PressureTriggere carrier is equipped with three rupture disc ports. Each rupture disc activatesthree samplers. Consequently, three samplers can be taken during each of threeseparate flow periods in the course of a multi-flow well test. A novel acoustic triggerusing Halliburton’s DynaLink® telemetry system is under development.

Versatile Configuratione versatile configuration allows the system to be run with up to nine samplers, dictated by the desired recovery pressure. Because a common nitrogen section isused to service all the samplers, running fewer samplers allows for a higher recoverypressure. e carrier can also accommodate a gauge set for monitoring annulus, tubular and common nitrogen pressure.Even though both sizes utilize the concept of a common nitrogen source for pressuremaintenance, the configuration of the source is different. e 5-in. version uses asingle nitrogen case whereas the 7-in. version uses between four to seven highpressure tubular sections. Both sources deliver extremely capable recovery pressuresto guarantee the highest probability for single-phase sampling.

ApplicationsBottomhole sampling by carrier is the preferred sampling method for HP/HTenvironments or any applications where wireline intervention is consideredinappropriate or too expensive in terms of lost rig time.

Benefitse Armada sampling system has been designed with extreme sour gas wells in mind.e inert nature of the ceramic coated sampler limits not only hazards related tostress corrosion cracking of conventional 17-4 PH sample tools but also facilitatesmeasurement of trace elements such as mercury and H2S. e tools have a smoothbore ID to permit unobstructed passage of wireline or tubing conveyed interventiontools without damaging the samplers. Because of its unique features, the Armadacarrier can be fully assembled and pressure tested at the base before being shipped tolocation. At location, only the nitrogen sections need to be charged and the Armadasystem is ready to run. is results in significant reduction in time and personnelcosts and improved safety.
