DESCRIPTION
GXFLEX is a flexible, reinforced, vinyl substrate, coated with FX protectivecoating. This flexible substrate is created for the sign and awning industries forbacklit graphic applications. The FX protective coating is designed forpressure sensitive vinyl applications.
Key features of GXFLEX include:• blocks plasticizer migration (promotes good bond between flexible
substrate and PSA applications)• increased UV and temperature resistance (maintains PVC whiteness)• easy cleaning
COMPOSITION
GXFLEX is manufactured using a premium, cast PVC. A low shrink, highstrength polyester scrim is embedded into the cast, white PVC film. The 500denier yarn is applied with an anti-wicking formulation, and the PVC includesadditives for weathering and microbial protection. An acrylic protective coatingis applied to the top surface of the PVC.
OTHER PROPERTIES & INSTRUCTIONAL INFORMATION
(i) SUBSTRATE TEMPERATUREThe best temperature for tensioning GXFLEX is between 50° to 100°F (10° to 35°C). Once tensioned it willmaintain its form without sagging between the temperatures -41° to 176°F (-42° to 80°C).
(ii) SMOOTH SURFACEThe use of the FX coating in the production of GXFLEX provides for a flat, smooth surface. This flat, smoothsurface allows for minimized dirt settlement and easier graphic application.
(iii) DECORATIONGXFLEX can be decorated by the following method:Calon® Translucent Vinyl Films, PSA applications.
(iv) HANDLING, PACKAGING AND SHIPPINGWhen handling GXFLEX, do not fold tightly, as a crease or wrinkle may occur. If a crease occurs, apply heat with a1000 watt heat gun to remove crease. When packaging, roll up on a minimum 3 in (76 mm) diameter inner core withgraphics facing out. When shipping, use an appropriate, sure fitting, shipping core.
(v) STORAGEGXFLEX should be stored in a cool, dry environment. Preferred temperature is 60° to 75°F (16° to 24°C) withmaximum humidity level of 50%.
(vi) SHELF LIFE2 years.
(vii) SIZESGXFLEX is available in 5 ft x 150 ft (1524 mm x 45.72 m) and 7 ft x 150 ft (2134 mm x 45.72 m) widths with noseams. Custom seamed rolls are also available at any height.
(viii) SEAMINGGXFLEX is seamed with a 1/16 in (1.6 mm) overlap with seaming tape welded to the back surface of the material bythe aid of a RF seaming machine.(Special Note: Signtech also produces a butt seam on a custom basis. A butt seam can produce a slight white line between theseamed sections.)
(ix) PRE-CLEANINGIf surface has to be cleaned, use a lint-free cloth moistened with a mixture of 1 part isopropyl alcohol to 1 part water. After cleaning use a dry lint-free cloth to remove any wet areas.
(x) CLEANINGSee Signtech's Cleaning Maintenance & Worldwide Warranty.
(xi) REPAIRSRips and cuts can be repaired with Signtech’s Flexface Repair Kit or vinyl repair kit. The patch placed on the backof the GXFLEX is practically invisible at a typical viewing distance.
