Itwas composed when Dvorak was resident inAmerica and longing for his Czechhomeland. The soloist, Steffan Morris, formerstudent at the Menuhin School and currentlyresident in Vienna is one of the finest youngcellist ever to come from Wales.

SILLY SONGS OFSHAKESPEAREThursday 21st February at 7.30pm

Tickets: £9 £7 Members £5 students Family Friendly - 2 children for£1 each with full paying adult

Silly Songs of Shakespeare is a show that doeswhat it says on the tin: there are songs, they aresilly and they are based on Shakespeare.

Spend an evening with ‘Fearg & The Sonnettes’while they serenade you with hilarious‘synopsongs” of some of Will’s most famous worksand illuminate a weird corner of Shakespeare’sworld with their witty and catchy tunes.

Highlights include The RP R&J Rap, The Kings’ Song,Hey Nonny Nonny, and The De Dum Dance.

‘This joyfully daft exploration of the Bard works onseveral levels. The gags are fast-fire and the songs(sometimes actually by Will himself) are witty: butit’s also hugely enjoyable musically. The Songettesaren’t just the dim, gum-chewing airheads thatthey portray – they can really, really sing (blues, gospel, jazz, Latin) and their comic timing is everybit as sharp as their singing.

¨

Mae Silly Songs of Shakespeare yn sioe sy’ngwneud yn hollol beth fyddech yn disgwyl.Mae ‘na ganeuon, ma nhw’n ddwl, ac ynseiliedig ar Shakespeare

Treuliwch noson gyda ‘Fearg & The Sonnettes’tra bydda nhw’n canu’r ‘synopsongs’ o rhai oweithiau mwyaf enwog Will, ac yn goleuocornel rhyfedd o fyd Shakespeare gyda’ucaneuon ffraeth a bachog.

Mae’r uchafbwyntiau yn cynnwys The RP R&JRap, Teh Kings’ Song, Hey Nonny Nonny a TheDe Dum Dance

‘Mae’r archwiliad gwirion yma o’r bardd yngweithio ar sawl lefel. Mae’r gags yn gyflym a’rcaneuon (ambell un gan Will ei hun) yn ffraeth, ond mae hefyd yn bleserus yn gerddorol.’

PEOPLEby Alan Bennett

Thursday 21st March at 7.00pm

Tickets: £10

Dyma ddrama newydd Alan Bennet, un o ddramodwyr mwyafadnabyddus Prydain (The History Boys, The Madness of King George).

Gwerthiant? Pam lai? Rhyddhewch eich trysorau i gyd i’r farchnadagored i bawb fwynhau. Math o ryddfreinio, eu rhyddhau i mewn i’rbyd... gwerthiant fan hyn, arddangosfa fan draw.

Mae pobol yn difetha pethau; mae ‘na ormod ohonynt, a’r pethdiwethaf mae dyn eisiau yw iddynt fod yn troedio trwy ei dy. Ondgyda pharc, jyngl a bath ar y bwrdd biliards, beth sydd i’w wneud?Mae Dorothy’n meddwl mai gwerthiant fyddai’r ateb.

One of Britain’s most celebrated playwrights, Alan Bennett (TheHistory Boys, The Madness of King George screenplay), debuts hiseagerly-anticipated new play.

A sale? Why not? Release all your wonderful treasures onto theopen market and they are there for everyone to enjoy. It’s a kindof emancipation, a setting them free to range the world… asaleroom here, an exhibition there; art, Lady Stacpoole, is a rover.

People spoil things; there are so many of them and the last thingone wants is them traipsing through one’s house. But with the

park a jungle and a bath on the billiard table, what is one todo? Dorothy wonders if an attic sale could be a solution.

A sharp and critically-acclaimednew play about the ruthless, fast-paced world of 1970s British politics.

1974. The UK faces economic crisis and a hung parliament. In aculture hostile to cooperation, it’sa period when votes are won orlost by one, when there are fistfights in the bars and when sickMPs are carried through the lobby to register their vote.

Let those on the continentcooperate and hug and kiss eachother on the ruddy cheek. Here inBritain, one party governs and weget things done.

Set in the engine rooms ofWestminster, James Graham’s ThisHouse strips politics down to the practical realities of those behindthe scenes: the whips who roll uptheir sleeves and on occasionbend the rules to shepherd andcoerce a diverse chorus of MPswithin the Mother of allParliaments.

This country is being kept alive onaspirin when what it needs iselectric bloody shock therapy.

Alfred Russell Wallace was an explorer, anthropologist and biologist in the 19th century. Born in Usk, hespent a large part of his life in Neath before travelling the world gathering biologicalspecimens.

He eventually co-wrote a scientific paper on theTheory of Evolution byNatural Selection withCharles Darwin. 2013marks the centenary ofhis death, and the GwynHall will be the centre of aweek long celebration ofhis life and work.

In 2007, artist Fred Langford Edwards was awardeda grant by The Wellcome Trust for a 30 month project

to research and promote the contributions of AlfredRussell Wallace to the theories of Natural Selection andEvolution.

In London on July 1st, 1858, at the first public reading of the Wallace and Darwin papers on NaturalSelection, Wallace and Darwin were given equalstatus and recognition.

Fred’s project is to generate artworks, publications and activities which will reinstate Wallace as a majorcontributor to the ideas and processes which explainhow species gradually change to create new types of beings.

Working with Dr George Beccaloni of the NaturalHistory Museum, the project has taken Fred to theAmazon Basin and the Malay Archipelago. Theresulting work explores the life, ideas, and survivingcollections of Wallace, and the physical hardshipshe endured during his travels. This is a stunningphotographic exhibition charting an importantchapter in natural history.

Fred returns to the Amazon to undertakefurther research in spring 2013 and this

together with some of the previous work will beavailable on display in Gwyn Hall.

EXHIBIT ION:

ALFRED RUSSELL WALLACE – THE FORGOTTENEVOLUTIONIST

Jesse Scott, Lachlan McAulay, Natano Fa’anana and Emma Serjeant

Four performers explore the boundaries of strength and fragility. Bodies are pushed and pulled, weighed and tested, unlikely bonds are forged and acts of intimacy cohabit space with thrilling physical feats.

Throughout this journey the artists reveal that delicacy does not necessarily equate to fragility, although it is often a fine line they tread.

Knee Deep is a breathtaking display of humanity and incredible physical skill performed with raw emotion and honesty.

Pedwar perfformiwr yn ymchwilio i ffiniaucryfder ac eiddilwch. Caiff y cyrff eugwthio a’u tynnu, eu pwyso a’u profi;ffurfir bondiau anhebygol, ac maegweithrediadau o agosatrwydd ynrhannu ‘run gofod a champau corfforol gefreiddiol.

Trwy gydol y daith hon, mae’r artistiaid yndatgelu nad yw tynerwch o reidrwydd yngydradd ag eddilwch, er mai ffin denaumae nhw’n troedio yn aml.
