Message from the Mayor

On behalf of the City of Surrey, it is my pleasure to welcome you to Surrey City Hall for the

inaugural Greater Vancouver Clean Technology Expo & Championship.

Surrey is proud to be home to approximately 10% of BC’s Clean Technology sector and as

Canada’s fastest growing city, we are committed to supporting new initiatives to create a

vibrant innovation ecosystem in Surrey and across the Greater Vancouver region.

This event is a celebration of regional innovation excellence and is designed to provide

a welcoming platform for companies to showcase their clean technology to potential

technology users, investors, and industry leaders from across the Pacific North West.

This year, we are excited to host 40 of the region’s top clean technology companies

competing for the title of Greater Vancouver’s Clean Technology Champion as well as

23 expert judges and speakers joining us from as far away as California.

I would also like to thank all of our community and industry partners whose support was

critical to the success of this event with special recognition to Vancity who has joined us as

the event’s presenting sponsor.

Once again, welcome to the City of Surrey and I wish you all the best of success in your

future endeavours.

Sincerely,

Linda Hepner

Workshop 1

The Trek south Generating sales and Developing

Brought to you by the Trade Commissioners Service, Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development

Foreign Affairs, Trade andDevelopment Canda

Affaires étrangères, Commerceet Développement Canada

Learn from industry movers

and shakers who can

help you unlock lucrative

business opportunities

in the United States and

beyond.

According to Analytica Advisors, three‑quarters of Canadian clean technology companies are exporters.

The United States, being Canada’s largest trading partner is a strategic first export market for many companies seeking international opportunities. While a common language, a shared physical border, and the North America Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) makes the US a key export market for clean technology companies, seeking partners and generating sales is no easy feat for new entrants.
