hnath_MathRadhenath moved to the forest in

1981 after the demise of this predecessor. Since 81 he has

gradually encroached on land and cut trees on all sides of the

temple, there is currently a hall under construction.

“It will be used for holding meeting (mahashabha) of senior

priests.”A large pit dug in front of the

temple serves as a dumping site for the temple staff.

It seems since 1317 the Dargah has hosted Langars here. However there is no system for garbage collection here, leading to massive plastic/ waste mismanagement and water clogging. Akbar baba, the spiritual head of the Dargah has refused the use of LPG for cooking food for the langar, as a result the fuel for the fire is collected from the surrounding forest.

On either sides of the Dragarh, the paths leading into the forest are cluttered with smaller graves,

sites for prayer/ worship.

Krishangarh, Vasant Kunj border till Mehrauli had no visible boundary for the forest. All natural drains

here are choked with plastic bags and garbage from the neighboring settlements. There is also rampant deforestation and misuse of forest

resources.

The are many sites of worship in the forest. Some, like the one in the image above that houses 40 dogs, 30 ducks and 2 monkeys,

are larger than others.

Dotting the entire landscape of the forest are small temples, mosques in the offing. A few

marigold flowers, a few pictures of Laxmi and Ganesh, some colour, plastic bags tied into

knots on the branches of trees.

There are many places were earth has been removed for plantation. If the hole is not full of plastic bags it is mostly lying vacant.
