Lady Go-Devils win 54-47
over Mt. Ida, improving

The Gurdon Go-Devils hosted the Acorn Tigers Friday night,January 17 and lost a hard-fought ball game 44-37.
Go-Devil Head Coach B.J. Rogers said Gurdon went into thegame 2 and 9, while top ranked Acorn was 16-6.
“It was a close game,” Coach Rogers said. “We played the bestdefense we have played all year. Acorn has been averaging 65 pointsa game and we held them to 44.”
Acorn led the game quarter by quarter, 16-4, 20-13, 32-25 beforethe 44-37 victory. Bryson Carter, #13 sophomore point guard forGurdon, led the Go-Devil scoring with 18 points, had 4 steals and 2assists. Coach Rogers said his young team had three turnovers.
Rogers said Royrick Anderson, #23, a junior and forward, wasalso in double figures with 11 points and had 3 rebounds.
The Go-Devils went on the road to Mt. Ida on Tuesday, losing 64-43. Coach Rogers it leaves Gurdon 1-6 in the conference and 2-11overall. He said the Mt. Ida game was tied up at the half, 27-27.
Gurdon scored 16 points after the half to Mt. Ida’s 37 points. Thecoach said, “We played well in spurts but need consistency.”

The Lady Go-Devils of Gurdon went on the road Tuesday, Jan. 21and defeated the Ladies of Mt. Ida, 54-47!
Head Gurdon Coach David Davis said the victory means “the LadyGo-Devils are now 3-4 in the conference and in fourth place - which isa better position than they have been at this point of the basketballseason in 15 years.”
Quarter by quarter, it was Mt. Ida 11-10 after one, Gurdon 30-27 atthe half and Gurdon 46-34 after three, as the Lady Go-Devils securedtheir 54-47 victory at game’s end.
Lady Go-Devil forward Michaela Mansfield, #44, led the scoringwith 24 points and team mate and guard Ashley Blalock had 12 points.Coach Davis said guard and #3 Rayann Williams scored 15 points.
Davis said, “This was the first time all year we had three people indouble figures. They are getting better. And Ashley and Rayann aresophomores so we can shoot at making state tournament.”
Coach Davis said the Ladies basketball schedule will be heavy athome during the first week of February, with Arkadelphia here on Feb.3, Foreman, Feb. 4, Murfreesboro, Feb. 6 and a make-up game hostingDierks on Friday, Feb. 7.
“The boys will play in these games before district tournament aswell,” Coach Davis said. “And the nights may be four gamers or twogamers, depending on make-up game schedules.”
