The Gulfstream G550 cockpit helped launch a safer, more sophisticated avionics platform that, years later,has become standard equipment for most business aircraft. Working with avionics partner Honeywell,Gulfstream in 2003 introduced the PlaneView cockpit, making it the most technologically advancedbusiness jet flight system in existence. Since then, the flight deck has continued to evolve and improve, andby design, easily accepts software upgrades. PlaneView uses four liquid crystal displays to presentessential flight data in larger, crisper images that make ever-changing flight conditions easier to analyze.

The innovative Head-Up Display (HUD) projects flight data to a transparent screen in the pilot’s forwardfield of vision. Aviators know that each turn of the head or every change in the field of vision affectssituational awareness. HUD keeps pilots focused on the skies ahead.

When vision is reduced or obscured, the Enhanced Vision System (EVS) leverages infrared imagingtechnology to display what the human eye cannot see. EVS captures clearer images of runway markings,taxiways and surrounding terrain, then displays those images on flight deck screens or the head-up display.
