Student-Driven LearningAt Drew, we do liberal arts a bit differently. We
focus on helping you become a well-rounded
individual. We prepare you for a lifetime of
great career experiences in an ever-changing
world. Flexible programs, close relationships
with professors, small class sizes and hands-
on experiences are how we help you take
full advantage of your American liberal
arts education.
FlexibilityA liberal arts education gives you the freedom to
choose your courses and create your own path
to an undergraduate degree. Combine majors
and minors in more than 50 fields of study . Our
approach to education gives you the freedom to
define your education. Nearly 50% of our students
double major within their four years at Drew.
Small Class SizesOur student-faculty ratio is 10:1, so the focus
is always on you. Professors have time to
work with you one-on-one and make sure you
understand the material. At Drew, we know more
than your name. We work to know your goals
and are committed to helping you reach them.
Your Professors CareOur professors are teachers first. Nearly 95% of
our faculty have earned the highest degree in
their field from prestigious universities and more
than 60% from global, top 50-ranked universities.
Need a letter of recommendation? Your letter
from a professor you have been doing research
with since your first year at Drew will speak
volumes to employers and graduate programs.
Access to faculty is unparalleled at Drew. Our
professors choose to spend their careers here
because of their passion for teaching and
mentoring undergraduate students like you.
Take Learning Outside the ClassroomWe believe that learning doesn’t just take place
in the classroom. With practical training in the
workplace, exceptional internship opportunities
and special off-campus programs, we turn
learning into an experience.
Try one of our Semesters in New York City,
where you learn directly from the people
working in your desired industry. Conduct
research in our one-of-a-kind RISE program,
which puts you in the research lab with leaders
in drug development, telecommunications and
even a Nobel Prize winner. Join one of our Short
TREC programs where you can learn more about
business in Italy or marine biology in Belize.
Each Drew student completes at least one out-
of-classroom experience before graduation.

Science OpportunitiesOne of the most important things for science majors is the opportunity to conduct research. Our undergraduate focus gets you in the lab as early as your first year. With our truly unique RISE program and professors who are still active in the larger scientific community, we offer unparalleled research opportunities for our undergraduates.
One-of-a-Kind RISE ProgramNew Jersey is the home of major drug
development laboratories and AT&T’s research
division. The Charles A. Dana Research Institute
for Scientists Emeriti offers you the unique
opportunity to engage in research under the
supervision of retired industrial scientists.
Working with RISE Fellows puts you in the lab
with the professional scientific community while
still an undergraduate, an experience typically
reserved for postgraduates.
RISE also gives you experience with analytic
equipment you’ll use on the job, from liquid
chromatography and cyclotrons to high-field
nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometry.
RISE is unique: No other school has such a program.
Research With Nobel Prize WinnerRISE Fellow Associate Dr. William Campbell received
the 2015 Nobel Prize in Medicine for discovering
a drug that treats parasitic diseases. Campbell has
taught as a RISE Fellow for 20 years.
Pre-Med, Your Path to Medical SchoolBy leveraging a strong background in liberal arts
with an emphasis on science, social science
and humanities courses, we provide you with
unmatched opportunities for research and clinical
internships that are essential for admission to
medical school.
Pre-med students receive custom support,
including direction from both an academic advisor
who is a professor in your chosen major and a
pre-med advisor who is a member of the National
Association of Advisors for Health Professions. Of
our students who apply to medical school, 80%
are accepted; nearly twice the national average.
Research with FacultyInterested in something your professor
is researching? Just ask, and a world of
opportunities will open. Our faculty conduct
research on a wide range of important issues,
including bacterial pathogenesis, evolution
in polluted lakes, primate communication, the
molecular biology of cancer, international health
care, forest integrity, physiology, Alzheimer’s
disease, HIV/AIDS and more.
Drew Summer Science InstituteThe DSSI pairs you with faculty mentors for
an intensive, personal experience working
full-time on a research project. Each summer,
this six-week program provides opportunities
to pursue real-world scientific questions and
establish professional relationships with faculty
at research universities and local industries.
Each student receives on-campus housing, a
budget for laboratory supplies and a weekly
stipend throughout the duration of the program.
Work-Study With Morristown MedicalOur mentor program with nearby Morristown
Medical Center is a work-study semester
that allows you to shadow emergency room
physicians. You will witness first-hand what
it takes to be a doctor and gain valuable
experience before applying to a medical program.
