Este ao el rea Profesional del Bafici vuelve a ofrecerse como espacio

en el que se cruzan los diversos actores del mundo del cine en una serie

de mesas, encuentros y asesoras que, contra todo pronstico, son cada

vez ms necesarias. Porque aquello que aprendimos ayer est cambiando

ahora mismo y habr que encontrar el modo de aplicarlo maana. Pasa

con las herramientas de filmacin, pero tambin con los modelos de

distribucin, la crisis de la exhibicin, las nuevas formas de financiar

los proyectos y de crear inters en torno a ellos, aun antes de que se

conviertan en pelculas. Todo cambia a cada momento, todo cambia muy

rpidamente, salvo algo central: la pulsin del cine, las ganas de hacer

pelculas y que esas pelculas encuentren un pblico. Por eso y porque

es parte fundamental de nuestros deberes como anfitriones, el rea

Profesional se pone al da, tiene respuestas y tambin piensa en nuevas

preguntas (y esto, es justo decirlo, tampoco ha cambiado en los ltimos

aos) y, un ao ms, le da una clida bienvenida a Buenos Aires.

This year, Baficis Professional Area is, once more, the space in which

diverse parties from the world of film gather in a series of roundtables,

encounters and consultancies that, against all odds, become more and

more of a necessity. Because what we have learnt yesterday is changing

right now, and well have to find a way of putting it into practice tomorrow.

It happens with filming equipment, but also with the distribution models,

the crisis in exhibition, the new ways of financing projects and creating

interest around them, even before they become films. Everything changes

all the time, everything changes quickly, except for something crucial: the

drive of film, the will to make films and for those films to find an audience.

Because of that, and also due to the fact that its a fundamental part of

our duties as hosts, the Professional Area is putting itself up to date, has

answers and also thinks of new questions (and this, its fair to say, also

hasnt changed in the last few years) and, once more, gives you a warm

welcome to Buenos Aires.

consultoras a proyectos nacionales en desarrollo, organizadas

de Medios Audiovisuales (APIMA), que pondr a disposicin a

sus profesionales, quienes cuentan con una amplia trayectoria

en la produccin de cine independiente.

The Professional Area of the [16] Bafici will have, as one of its

main activities and for the fourth consecutive year, consultancies

for local projects in development, organized along with the

FILMFEST HAMBURGFESTIVAL

Filmfest Hamburg es uno de los festivales ms importantes de Alemania, cuya programacin privilegia pelculas que no tienen distribucin comercial en ese pas. El festival cuenta con una seccin dedicada a Iberoamrica llamada Vitrina, seccin abierta a otros modelos narrativos y a un cine que apuesta por el riesgo formal y temtico. Si bien el festival no tiene una competencia oficial, s cuenta con una competencia transversal.

Filmfest Hamburg is one of Germanys most important film festivals, whose programming favors films that have no commercial distribution in Germany. The festival has a section called Vitrina, dedicated to Latin America and open to other narrative models and formally and thematically risqu films. Even though the festival does not have an official competition, it does have a transverse competition.

The Viennale is Austrias most important international film event, as well as one of the oldest and best-known festivals in the German-speaking world. It takes place every October/November in theaters across Viennas historic center, providing a festival with an international orientation and a distinctive urban flair.

MOOOVFESTIVAL

MOOOV est arraigado en los festivales Cinema Novo (Brujas) y Open Doek (Turnhout). Su objetivo es proveer una experiencia audiovisual de alta calidad, proyectando pelculas de todas partes del mundo para una gran cantidad de pblico a travs de Flandes, Blgica, y seleccionando el mejor cine del mundo. MOOOV intenta ser un importante distribuidor independiente de cine arte y documentales. Se lleva a cabo a fines de abril en siete ciudades flamencas.

MOOOV is rooted in the Cinema Novo (Bruges) and Open Doek (Turnhout) festivals. Its main goal is to provide a high-quality audiovisual experience, screening films from around the world for the widest audiences throughout Flanders, Belgium, and selecting the best world cinema. MOOOV intends to be an important independent distributor of arthouse films and documentaries. It takes place at the end of April in 7 Flemish cities.

Paola Wink is producer and partner at Tokyo Filmes since 2009. Her first feature film, Castanha, had its world premiere at the 64th Berlin International Film Festival. Currently, she is developing two new feature film projects: Until the Way, directed by Davi Pretto, and Cologne, Richard Tavares debut. She also produces Plataform Session and other film exhibitions and retrospectives in Brazil.

Existe un grupo de pelculas escondidas para el pblico. Pelculas que a las grandes salas de cine no les interesa. Un grupo de cine ms crtico o experimental que representa sectores sociales ausentes en la produccin estndar. Nosotros apostamos por el cine del futuro, la nueva generacin de cineastas.

A group of films exists hidden to the audience. Films large theaters are not interested in. A group of more critical or experimental films that represent sectors of society that are absent in standard production. We promote films of the future, the new generation of filmmakers.

FESTIVAL INTERNACIONAL DE CINE DE VALDIVIAFESTIVAL

El Festival Internacional de Cine de Valdivia exhibe cine chileno e internacional en cuatro categoras competitivas: Largometraje Internacional, Largometraje Chileno, Cortometraje de Escuelas de Cine Latinoamericanas y Cortometraje Wallmapu-Los Ros. Su programa no competitivo incluye retrospectivas histricas, focos de cineastas contemporneos, cine poltico y de vanguardia. Adems de una seccin de cine para nios y sus familias, que cuenta con su propia competencia para obras latinoamericanas.

The Valdivia International Film Festival shows Chilean and international films in four competitive categories: International Features, Chilean Features, Short Films from Latin American Film Schools, and Wallmapu-Los Ros shorts. Its non-competitive program includes historical retrospectives, focuses on contemporary filmmakers, political and avant-garde films. Also, a section with films for children and their families, which has its own competition for Latin American works.

The Cali International Film Festival, held in Colombia, is an independent film festival. This year, it will carry out its sixth edition on October 9th through the 13th. It has three competitive sections: International Features, Local Features, and International Shorts. It also has a world film panorama, retrospectives, academic encounters and master classes with the filmmaker invitees.

FESTIVAL INTERNACIONAL DE CINE DE VILLA DE LEYVAFESTIVAL

Organizado por la Fundacin Cine Posible, el festival promueve un cine independiente basado ms en su vitalidad que en su presupuesto. Se celebra en septiembre en el pueblo de Villa de Leyva, fundado en 1572. Cuenta con una competencia internacional de cortos, una muestra de largometrajes, proyecciones al aire libre, un festival para nios y una convocatoria para proyectos en desarrollo de directores colombianos.

Organized by the Cine Posible Foundation, the festival promotes independent films that rely more on their vitality than their budgets. It is held in September in the town of Villa de Leyva, founded in 1572. It has an international competition for short films, a feature film exhibit, outdoor screenings, a festival for children and a call for projects in development by Colombian directors.

El EIFF muestra pelculas de ficcin, documentales, experimentales y animadas de corto y largo metraje. Su 68 edicin se llevar a cabo entre el 18 y el 29 de junio de 2014.

This festival is a meeting place for making, distributing, exhibiting, watching, and discussing films; educational opportunities; a foundation for an informed appreciation of cinema among a non-specialist public; and a platform for collaboration among local, UK, and international film communities. EIFF shows fiction, documentary, experimental and animated features and shorts. Its 68th edition takes place June 18-29, 2014.

An institution that depends on the Government of Galicia (Spain), whose mission is safeguarding, preserving, and spreading the cinematic heritage. Apart from the screenings of its archive, it programs around twenty film seasons and 300 screenings throughout the year of classics as well as contemporary pictures. The CGAI-Film Library of Galicia is an associate member of the FIAF.

La Sudestada was founded in 1999 by Nora Sack-Rofman, its director and programmer. Its main goal is to spread Argentine cinema in Paris (screenings, presentations, conferences, and round tables). Its activities, which are free, are the Festival (annual) and the Cine Club Argentin (monthly), which are always presented by Nora Sack-Rofman. This years festival dates are May 14-23.

Fue coeditora de Ireland into Film. Tambin habla acerca del arte en radio y televisin.

This is Grainne Humphreyss eighth year as Artistic Director. She began her career in film education, teaching and programming for young audiences. She has worked in independent cinema for over nineteen years. She was the Director of both Stranger Than Fiction Documentary Festival and the Dublin French Film Festival from 2002-2007. She was Co-Editor of Ireland into Film. She also regularly broadcasts on the arts for both radio and television.

La 33 edicin tendr lugar en Montevideo entre el 28 de marzo y el 6 de abril de 2015.

The Uruguay International Film Festival has been organized by the Uruguayan Cinematheque for more than three decades. Apart from the panorama and retrospective sections, the festival has competitive sections for international features, Latin American features, new filmmakers, Human Rights cinema, international shorts, and Urugayan shorts. The 33rd edition will be held in Montevideo between March 28 and April 6, 2015.

El hecho de alternar su residencia entre Montevideo y Buenos Aires lo acerca adems a la coproduccin de otros proyectos con la Argentina. Es productor asociado de Parabellum, pelcula dirigida por Lukas Rinner y producida por Nabis Filmgroup que integra el programa WIP en la presente edicin del BAL.

In 2012, Alex Piperno created La Pobladora Cine with the aim of producing his first film, Chico ventana tambin quisera tener un submarino, currently in development. The fact that he alternates his residence between Montevideo and Buenos Aires also draws him close to the co-production of other projects with Argentina. He is associate producer in the film Parabellum, directed by Lukas Rinner and produced by Nabis FIlmgroup, which is part of the WIP program at the current edition of the BAL.

ACFALA

Acfala es una productora dedicada casi en su totalidad a proyectos documentales. Comnmente los proyectos no tienen un director sino un grupo conformado por profesionales de distintas reas, como en el caso de Buenos Aires Rap. Esta es su primera pelcula terminada y parte de una saga: Buenos Aires Black y Buenos Aires Reggae estn en proceso de preproduccin. A nivel internacional est buscando apoyo para realizar La Paz Rap y Bogot Rap.

Acfala is a production company devoted almost entirely to documentary projects. Usually, the projects do not have a director but a group formed by professionals from different areas, as is the case with Buenos Aires Rap. This is its first finished film, and its part of a saga: Buenos Aires Black and Buenos Aires Reggae are in pre-production. They are looking for international support in order to make La Paz Rap and Bogot Rap.

Actitud Cine es una productora audiovisual argentina, fundada por Marina Zeising, que brinda servicios de produccin, seminarios de capacitacin y emprendimientos de la industria cultural como el portal filmap.net, desde su desarrollo hasta su difusin y comercializacin. Produjo y distribuy la pelcula de Jorge Gaggero, Montenegro, ganadora en IDFA del premio al Mejor Mediometraje Documental. Actualmente se focaliza en el desarrollo de sus propias producciones como la pelcula Habitares, de Marina Zeising.

Actitud Cine is an Argentine film production company founded by Marina Zeising. It offers film production services, audiovisual workshops and cultural industry enterprises such as the site filmap.net, from its development to promotion and commercialization. It produced and distributed Jorge Gaggeros film Montenegro, which won the award for Best Mid-length Documentary at IDFA2011. It is currently focusing on the development of its own productions, such as Marina Zeisings Habitares.

Aquafilms es una productora audiovisual creada en 1999, en Buenos Aires, por Enrique Pieyro, a partir de su trabajo como actor y productor en Garage Olimpo. Entre sus pelculas se destacan Whisky Romeo Zulu (2002), que cosech ms de 15 premios internacionales, Fuerza Area Sociedad Annima (2006), Bye Bye Life (2008) y El Rati Horror Show (2010), film crucial en la liberacin de Fernando Carrera. Pieyro fue destacado con un Konex de Platino como Documentalista de la Dcada 2001-2010.

Aquafilms is a film production company based in Buenos Aires, founded in 1999 by Enrique Pieyro following his role as actor and producer in Garage Olimpo. He later produced and directed Whisky Romeo Zulu, which received over 15 international awards, Air Force Inc., Bye, Bye Life and The Rati Horror Show, which was instrumental in the release of Fernando Carrera after 7 years in prison for a crime he did not commit. In 2011, Pieyro received the Konex Platinum Award as the Documentary Director of the Decade.
