Guest Speaker: HONORABLE PEDRO G. MAYAM-O, Ifugao Provincial Governor

The Tungoh ad Hungduan that commenced in 1994 emanated into decades of

cultural and community development that has fostered agro-tourism promotions in the

municipality. This interminably supported the LGU’s vision that is to become a premier

eco-tourist destination with God-loving and empowered people having a sustainable

agri-based environment governed by capable and committed leaders working towards the

general welfare of the community.

Tungoh refers to the rest period in the Ifugao traditional agricultural cycle that is

usually after the rice planting season. It was adopted as the festival of the municipality

where people of Hungduan come together to celebrate unity with culture showcasing the

agro-tourism industry in the municipality including the staging of traditional dances and

songs, ethnic sports and handicrafts.

This year, the Tungoh Ad Hungduan 2017 with the theme “Tungoh 2017: A Homage

of Cultural Birthright ” is a 3-day event where highlight activities are the Cultural Parade,

Opening Program, Inter-Agency Sports Competition, and the Youth Ethnic Sports

Competition. The Local Government Unit of Hungduan deems these activities necessary to

continuously promote the Indigenous Knowledge, Systems and Practices of the

municipality that will intensify the appreciation of the younger generation with the

participation and elders’ edification.
