GettingStarted
Beforebeginningtheexercises,youneedtoinstallandregisterthesoftware.AutoCADStructuralDetailingsoftwarecomeswiththeAutoCADRevitStructureSuite.Thissoftwareisavailablefor32bitand64bitWindowssystems.
ExploringtheUserInterface
OpenAutoCADStructuralDetailing,Reinforcementmodule,andtakeaminutetoviewthedifferentareasoftheinterface.
Ribbon
At the topof the interface is the standardMicrosoftWindowselement ribbon.The ribbon isanelementof theuser interfacewhich replaces the traditionalmenuand toolbars and allows easy managing and adjusting the workspace. The ribbonconsistsof severalpanels,groupedon tabs thatarenamedby taskor subject.TheribbonpanelsincludemanyAutoCADStructuralDetailingcommandsthathavebeenontoolbarsandindialogssofar,suchasicons,dropdownlists,sliders,textfieldsandotherelementscharacteristicofagiventab.
NOTEItispossibletoswitchbetweenworkspaces(suchastheclassicworkspacewithouttheribbon).Todoitfollowoneofthegivenmethods:

UsingtheInspector,youhavequickaccesstoprojectelementsfromeverystageofwork,whichhelpsyoumanageyourproject.Bydefault,theObjectInspectordialogdisplaysontheleftsideoftheinterface,besidethedrawingarea.Youcanadjustthewidthofthedialogtoleaveasmuchspaceaspossiblefordrawingthegraphicmodel.
OntheModeltabisalistofmodelelements(levels,groups,andelementsthatbelongtothelevelsandgroups)thatdescribethedivisionofreinforcingbarsintostructuralelements(beams,columns,spreadfootings,andsoon).
ThePositionstabdisplaysalistofdefinedviewsthatcontainthename,scale,andprintoutlayoutnamefortheview.

ProgramPreferences
Preferences
ThePreferencesarelocatedinAutoCADsOptionsdialog.TheStructuralDetailingtabletsyouselectthedefaultstarttemplateandworkspacenamefortheReinforcementmodule.Thesoftwareprovidesmanytemplatesthataredefinedforspecificcountries.
Jobpreferences
Thesepreferencesarerelatedtoaparticulartemplateandproject.Afteryouhavestartedworkingonaproject,itisnotpossibletochangeworkunits.Somesettings(suchasdesigncodesanddatabases)arespecifiedonlyatthebeginningoftheproject,beforeyouaddelementsintomodelspace.

TypesofReinforcement
Usingthereinforcementmodule,youcancreaterebarorwirefabricforstructuralelementsofeverytypeandshape(frombeamstoadvanced,complicatedelements).
Thereare3waystodefinereinforcementofstructuralelements:
Manually Automatically,basedonmacrosforthegenerationofreinforcementand
formworkoftypicalstructures.MacrosinAutoCADStructuralDetailingletyougeneratecompleteconcretereinforcementdrawings,togetherwithrebardescriptionsandmaterialtakeoffs.
Usingdatafromexternalsoftware,byimportingandexportingfromAutodeskRobotStructuralAnalysisProfessionalsoftware,andbyexportingreinforcementdatafromRevitStructuresoftware.
RulesforPositioningaReinforcingBarinaDrawing
Thesoftwaredeterminesthepositionofareinforcingbarinadrawingdependingonthedirectioninwhichpointsaredefined.Theorientationofthereinforcingbarisdeterminedbytheorderofthepointsinaclockwisedirection,inrelationtotheexternalpartofanobject.

DescriptionsofReinforcement
Afterreinforcementisdefined(barshape,reinforcementdistribution,wirefabricdistribution,andsoon),thesoftwareautomaticallyrunsanoptionthatsuggestsadescriptionappropriateforthereinforcementtype.Theresultingdialogdependsonthetypeofselectedreinforcementdescription.
EverytypeofdescriptionhastheActiveoption.Iftheoptionison,thenthereinforcementisdescribedandiscountedinthereinforcementtable.Whenthesamereinforcementisdescribedtwice,theoptionshouldbeofftopreventdoublingthenumberofreinforcingbarscalculatedwhenpreparingabartable.
Workflow
Thecreationofeverycompleteprojectisbasedon3stages:
ModelingyouworkontheModeltab(modelspace)todefineformworks,reinforcement,andmaterialtakeoffs.
Viewsyouworkinmodelspacetodefineeachviewasasingleelementwithitsownscale.
PrintoutsyouworkinLayoutspacetopreparethefinalshopdrawings.Inthisstage,youworkwithviewsthatwerecreatedearlier.
