1 DEVELOPMENT MILESTONES • 1991 Company for sales and servicing of broadcasting satellite systems is founded in St. Petersburg (Russia) within the emerging Eastern Europe satellite TV market. High professionalism and competence of company specialists, along with significant sale amounts, permit signing contracts on exclusive supplies of equipment with such well-known corporations as Pace Micro Technology (UK) and Humax (S. Korea). • 1995 Thanks to successful marketing campaign abroad and in the domestic market, compa- ny becomes one of leading suppliers of full kit of equipment for TV companies in Eastern Europe. It becomes large integrator in this field, known as General Satellite Corporation. • 1996 Strategic decisions on the Corporation’s future are adopted: international science- intensive projects become a priority. The company is selected as the exclusive supplier of subscriber equipment for NTV-Plus, the first Russian large satellite broadcasting project. General Satellite receives a status of country-wide telecommunication company. The Cor- poration affiliates are opened in major cities of Russia. • 1999 By gradually implementing strategy for science-intensive projects, the Corporation sep- arates its engineering as a special structural division. Its first significant success is opening its own assembly line of set-top-boxes under the brand of Humax. The trust to General Satellite Corporation grows among the global leaders of the satellite TV market. • 2002 In order to support projects development and enter the global market, foreign affiliates are opened. General Satellite becomes an international company. A network of foreign trade affiliates is created in six European countries: Germany, Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia and Turkey. The Corporation receives a status of global distributor and integrator of satel- lite equipment with the largest coverage area. • 2004 The company’s engineering division develops the first set-top-boxes with proprietary software for viewing satellite, terrestrial and cable TV programs. The manufacture is lo- cated at factories in Shenzhen (China). arereceived.TheCorporationreceivesthefirstofthemattheCSTBExhibitioninMos-cowin2005.
CorporationbecomesthemaintechnicalcontractorofaRussiansatellitebroadcastingoperator–TricolorTV.Withinafewyearsofthisprojectimplementation,over12mil-lionpeoplebecomeitssubscribers.TheGeneralSatelliteCorporation,havingachievedoutstandingsuccessinelectronicequipmentmanufacture,entersalargeinternationalassociationoftheindustry–AEPOC.
• 2008Inanefforttocreateitsownpowerfultechnologicalbase,Corporationimplementsin-
vestmentprojectoftheEastEurope’slargestprivatehi-techtechnopolis–TechnopolisGS.Several multi-profile innovative production sites in the field of microelectronics andnanotechnologiesarecreatedintheframeworkofthisproject.AmongthemEastEurope’slargest manufacture of digital satellite set-top-boxes – the Scientific and ProductionAssociation“DigitalTelevisionSystems”.Allnecessaryinfrastructureisalsocreatedandacreativeinnovationenvironmentformodernpeople’slifeisformed.
TotalamountofinvestmentsintoTechnopolisGSuntil2016willmakeabout25billionrubles. The project development plan envisages Technoplis GS to become one of theleadingcentersofscientificandtechnicaldevelopmentinEurope.
• 2010The Corporation’s scientific and technical potential grows steadily. General Satellite
Corporationisapioneerin3Dtelevisionbroadcasting.In2010theCorporationisthefirsttolaunch3DbroadcastinginEasternEurope.InrecentyearsTechnopolisGShasbecomeaninternationaldiscussionplatforminthefieldofmicroelectronicsproductionanddigi-talbroadcastingworldwide.
• 2012CambodianfirstdigitalTVbroadcastingprojectOneTVislaunchedjointlywithlargest
CambodianprivatecompanyRoyalGroupofCompanies.Theshort-termprospectsalsoincludedigitizingtelevisioninPakistan,Bangladesh,Nigeriaandothercountries.
• 2013GeneralSatelliteCorporationannouncescreationofamulti-industryholdingandper-
formsrebranding.Theholdingstructurefeaturesconsumerelectronicsandset-top-boxesmanufacturingunderthebrandofGeneralSatelliteandscientificandtechnicaldevelop-mentareaTechnopolisGS.AlldirectionsareunitedunderthenewinternationalbrandGSGroup.
