Depression DOESN’T Discriminate
Depression is a mental illness that doesn’t discriminate.
Depression does not care if you are white, black, Asian, or Mexican. It does not care if you
are male or female, gay or straight, young or old. http://3.bp.blogspot.com

Chose Your Words Wisely Don’t Say… “I can fix this for you.”
Instead, Say… “I can’t fix this, but I will be here so you don’t have to go through this alone.” http://healthvene.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/depression.jpg
Depression is THE leading cause of suicide among college students
Suicide is the second leading cause of death among college students
If we can stop depression, we can stop suicide
There’s a few ways depression comes about:
Environmental factors (stress, trauma, childhood experience)
Medical factors (chemical imbalance in the brain, defects in the nervous system, existing mood disorders)
Be aware of warning signs!!! Don’t let depression go unnoticed.
If in doubt, talk it out. Better to be safe than sorry.
The Reality Is…
So What If We Do Nothing? The solution may sound a bit radical, but the facts
can’t be denied
If we do nothing, depression will continue to plague college campuses around the nation. However, that doesn’t have to be the case

It’s hard to determine an exact number of the decrease in depression statistics if our plan is implemented.
It’s inexact science, but realistically we could decrease the statistic to 1 in every 7 college students suffering from depression.
With a 2010 enrollment of 21,419, we could save 1,000 people from the depths of depression.
