FTG focuses on developing near-net shape or net shape hybrid metal forming, liquid-state processing, polymers, composites, powder processing and 3D additive manufacturing technologies. The aim is to create dimensionally accurate parts with superior mechanical properties, while minimising material wastage and manufacturing costs in a process chain to optimise cost-benefits. The group carries out collaborative cutting-edge research with academic institutions, co-develops processes and products with companies, transfers technology and conducts training for the manufacturing industry.
