Duration of Project: since 2007 (currently maintenance in operational conditions)

Challenge: Modernise the long-range maritime patrol aircraft, replacing the existing equipment with an avionics suite permitting operation in air spaces subject to ICAO regulations.

Our client is faced with a double challenge: to prove its know-how to a return customer and its competence to a new certifying organisation, this programme being the first certification before the C130 and ATR certifications (similar projects).

Akka Solution: from knowledge acquired on earlier aeronautical projects, AKKA provided its know-how on DSDL management functionalities, Flight Plan management, Feedback and TCAS.

Result Thanks to its reactivity and the commitment of its teams (up to 20 persons, 2*8, 3*8, Saturdays), AKKA enabled its client to ensure "ready for first flight" delivery in 15 months instead of the usual 2 to 3 years, making this programme the fastest to deliver an "airworthy" version.

Challenge: Add a centralised maintenance functionality for the network equipment to the new "Urbalis Evolution" generic offering of our client in the railways sector.

AKKA Solution : Carry out system studies (specification, architecture, choice ofequipment). Carry out software development (study, detailed specification, design and realisation of software, functional and documentation tests). Provide technical support for the software (guarantee, Maintenance in Operational Conditions and training of users).

Result: The AKKA is the only one to have a technical and functional command of the product and advises ALSTOM on its developmental changes, e.g. to include graphical supervision of the line. In addition to Beijing, the offer is now slated for Milan, Sao Paulo…

Challenge: Develop a Web 2.0 product unique in the market, capable of real-time monitoring of the weather situation over the whole French road and motorway network.

AKKA Solution: AKKA Technologies realised the entire OPTIMA WEB product in Open Source technologies: definition and implementation of the Web 2.0 Internet application architecture, integration of the Geographic Information System (GIS) solution, development of the client module in PHP and forecasting algorithms in java/JEE, integration of the product in the operating platform of the Météo France extranets.

Result:

Météo France offers a new, added value service for clients such as road network managers, GPS manufacturers, drivers etc.

With OPTIMA, Météo France has the possibility of real-time qualification of weather forecasts, kilometre by kilometre, for the coming 60 minutes on the French road and motorway network. The current coverage of this tool is 120,000 km of road

In collaboration with the Météo France teams, AKKA Technologies designed a flexible and expandable system. Furthermore, our client is considering extending the OPTIMA service to other networks, such as the French rail network or the electricity networks.

The challenge: To recommend a zero carbon emission energy plan to meet the needs of an industrial site producing manufacturing goods. Annual electricity and gas consumption: 400 GWh.

AKKA’s contribution: implementing a horizontal project to design a biomass solution, eliminating the gas supply, which included: surveys, negotiation with the client, funding, contracts, running costs, carbon credits and the construction of a timber-producing chain.

The result: the elimination of almost all CO2 gas emissions
