Poor Phil was wrong in the film when forecasting that the blizzard that was NOT going to hit Punxsutawney. The town and the rest of the Northeast felt Mother Nature’s wrath.

Bill Murray was a highly bankable actor at the time of the movie’s filming and release. Prior to “Groundhog Day”, Murray had enormous box office success with “Caddyshack” , “Stripes”, “Ghostbusters I” and “II”, and “What About Bob?”
