Zodiac Whale Watching

Whale watching is one of the most popular activities in the Hawaiian Islands and experiencing the whales on 24’ Zodiacs makes it even better. The boats are fast so during this tour, guests are able to see more than one pod of whales.

More than 5000 endangered humpback

whales migrate from the cold waters of

Alaska each year to mate and calve in tropical

Hawaiian waters between December and April. During their annual sojourn here, these whales exhibit many interesting and acrobatic behaviors that can easily be seen and enjoyed just yards off shore. The name humpback describes the motion it makes as it arches its back out of the

water in preparation for a dive. Humpbacks often breach high out of the water, and then slap

the water as they come back down. Sometimes they twirl around while breaching. This behavior may be merely for play, may be used to loosen skin parasites, or may have some unknown

social meaning. Tour Timing (3) Hour Tour / Tuesdays & Thursdays

Kohala Waterfalls Adventure

Olo I ka wai a ka opua – “there is life in the rain.” Rain provides for the resplendent countryside and plentiful waterfalls of Kohala. Nowhere in Hawaii is the importance and story of water more evident than here in the land of Kamehameha I. In its eternal cycle, water continues to shape a dramatic landscape of valleys, streams and

cliffs. These same waters reveal the history and culture of Kohala. The tour begins with a wonderful drive of contrast and change from the dry-side resort area to the lush green country of Kohala. Journey up the North Kona and Kohala coastlines over lava flows from Mauna Loa, Mauna Kea and the Kohala Mountains. Often from the shoreline splashing spinner dolphins and breaching humpback whales (in the winter months) are visible. Pass through the quaint plantation towns of Hawi and Kapaau, site of the life—sized statue of King Kamehameha I. At the end of the road, transfer to a 6WD Pinzgauer for a bumpy but short off-road drive on an old cane road.

Out of the Pinzgauer, step back into the early 1900s when plantation owners began construction of the Kohala Ditch to bring much needed water to the sugar cane fields. Along the 1.5 mile loop trail, view tunnels blasted and carved from solid rock, walk over an aqueduct on two bridges and learn the story of the tremendous effort it took to build an irrigation system stretching over 22 miles. Delve into Hawaiian history, visiting a former taro farming site just off the path. Seven beautiful waterfalls grace the trail. Take a refreshing dip in the last pool and play under a refreshing cascade.

Kona Coffee & Craters Adventure

On the slopes of Hualalai lies the world famous Kona Coffee Belt. Nourished by afternoon showers and rich volcanic soil, the region produces some of the finest and most sought-after coffee in the world. On this fun and exciting exploration, journey from sea-level through a dense rainforest to a world of volcanic majesty at the 6,000 feet elevation on the privately owned lands of Kaupulehu. Although in plain sight of Kailua-Kona, these seldom-visited uplands are seemingly geologic light years away.

The story of Kona Coffee unfolds as guests learn the volcanic and royal history of this area. Amidst distinctive native birdsong, the tour rambles through a beautiful and surreal landscape of native dry land forest, lava flows and stunning craters. Over the years, most of the volcanic activity has been concentrated on the northwest rift of Hualalai that features three distinctive types of craters (spatter cone, fissure and pit collapse), and an impressive lava tube to explore.

The tour will then descend into the Kona Coffee Belt to a family-owned coffee estate. This working coffee farm encompasses all aspects of the coffee process; growing, harvesting, processing, roasting and packaging all happens here. See how bright red coffee-cherries are hand-picked, meticulously sorted for color and size, then roasted to perfection to produce a delicious cup of Kona coffee. Of course, you will have a chance to sample the varieties and roast and buy whole bean coffee direct from the farmer.

Mauna Kea Summit & Stars Adventure

The drive to the 13,796 foot summit of Mauna Kea is unforgettable. Once at the summit, enjoy the spectacular views of the horizon, Haleakala on Maui, Mauna Loa and Hualalai, and Mauna Kea’s world-class array of telescopes. Mauna Kea is the world’s tallest mountain, rising over 32,000 feet from the ocean floor to its summit, which is considered by many Hawaiians to be the most sacred place in all the islands. Stand in awe at both nature’s sublime creation and man’s astonishing technological achievements.

The tour travels up the Kohala Coast over desolate lava flows for about half hour before proceeding to the rolling pasturelands on the flanks of Mauna Kea. Turning onto the Saddle Road that traverses the island between Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea, view a dramatic and diverse landscape of ranchland, sub-alpine dry forest and rainforest, cinder cones, lava flows, lava tubes and kipuka. Approximately two hours before sunset, enjoy a hot picnic dinner served family style at a private dinner location at Humu’ula. After dinner and with a winter- style parka in hand, enjoy the guide’s interpretation of Hawaii’s remarkable natural, cultural and geologic history during the 45 minute drive to the summit.

Kohala Zip & Dip Adventure North Kohala is a land of stunning beauty and profound cultural significance. Towering waterfalls and resplendent forests create the backdrop on which the story of King Kamehameha the Great begins. On this exciting and educational

adventure in the lands of Ha waii’s first king, old Hawaii comes alive as you zipline high above the forest floor, picnic on the rim of Pololu Valley and swim under a private waterfall.

The tour begins with a wonderful drive of contrast and change from the dry side resort area to the lush green country of Kohala. Along the way, journey up the North Kona and Kohala coastlines over lava flows from Mauna Loa, Mauna Kea and the Kohala Mountains. Often splashing spinner dolphins or in the winter months, breaching humpback whales are visible.

Past the quaint plantation town of Hawi, guests will gear up at the zipline station. ACCT Certified guides will present a safety orientation and the adventure begins to King Kamehameha’s traditional family land holdings. In this area known since ancient times as Halawa, elevated platforms are built directly into majestic trees to form a jungle-like course while a stream meanders below through the remnants of taro terraces. Travel high up in the trees on thrilling ziplines and suspension bridges. At the end of the course, rappel from the final tree back onto solid ground.

Next enjoy a delicious deli lunch on the cliff side of Pololu Valley. During a short hike venturing deeper into the mountains along a private trail site, guests will see tunnels blasted and carved from solid rock, walk over an aqueduct bridge and learn the century old story of the tremendous effort it took to build the Kohala Ditch irrigation system stretching over two miles. Enjoy a dip in a mountain stream with cascading falls overhead.

Your proposal includes the cost of our professional TMG Hawaii staff to sufficiently run operations at a first-class level, for which we are renowned.

Upon your acceptance of our services, Trade-Winds Management Group, LTD (TMG Hawaii) will produce a contract which will outline all of TMG Hawaii’s terms and conditions to include the program deposit schedule. In addition, certain vendors such as private estate owners, restaurants and off site public venues may require additional deposits earlier than our terms outline. Those exceptions will be noted in the contract deposit schedule.

Following the contract terms, a services outline will be generated. This outline includes all services requested from TMG Hawaii to include confirmed pricing which has been mutually agreed upon. Until such time availability of goods and services cannot be guaranteed.

Some of the prices are quoted as “billed on consumption” or “per person”. The final guest count is due (10) days prior to the event. TMG reserves the right to re-price the event should your guarantee fall below 10% of the original estimate.

Should your program change between the generation of our signed contract / services outline and the execution of the program, TMG Hawaii reserves the right to add additional staffing to sufficiently cover all aspects of the program. You will be advised when and if additional staff is required. Additional charges to cover staff expenses, including but not limited to; staff rates, air and accommodations, are the responsibility of the client. These will be included in the final invoice.
