Welcome So, another year draws to a close and what a year it has been! Great Britain shone brightly on the international stage with the Jubilee and Olympics. Grosvenor has had another successful year which seems to indicate that international business is as strong as ever. I know it’s a tired old cliché, but we are only too aware that you have a choice about which travel company you work with and we are very grateful that you choose us. Of course, this is in no small part due to the excellent work my colleagues undertake and we are grateful to them too. Austrian Airlines takes off with new long-haul cabinAustrian Airlines is investing millions of Euros refurbishing its entire long-haul fl eet and installing a new modern cabin: Between November 2012 and Spring 2013 all ten long-haul aircraft of the types Boeing 777 and 767 are to be given new, modern Economy Class seats, an improved in-fl ight entertainment system, and innovative seats in Business Class which can be transformed into full-fl at beds. The interior design of the aircraft is also being given a new visual, as Austrian Airlines reworks the colour concept of its cabins.

The conversion will be fi nished Spring 2013 and thereafter, passengers will be able to look forward to the following highlights:

• High-tech seats with innovative details and a fully horizontal fl at bed feature in Business Class.

SELF SERVICE BAG TAGGING AT LONDON HEATHROW T3

Virgin Atlantic has announced plans to fl y domestic services from London Heathrow to Manchester Airport. They will operate the three daily fl ights to Manchester from 31st March 2013.

This new route is the fi rst time Virgin Atlantic has fl own domestically within the UK, signalling the start of a new network providing regional feed for long haul services, as well as a much needed choice for passengers fl ying between the two cities.

Qatar Airways is to join oneworld®, adding one of the world’s fastest growing and most highly rated airlines to the world’s leading quality airline alliance.

Qatar Airways, named Airline of the Year for the past two years by the Skytrax independent airline quality rating agency, is the fi rst of the three major airlines based in the Gulf to sign for any of the global airline alliances. It is also the second largest full service airline in the world not, until today, aligned to one of big global airline alliances.

The Doha-based airline’s implementation into oneworld is expected to take between 12 and 18 months.

Qatar Airways will substantially strengthen oneworld’s customer offering by providing superior routing alternatives across many hundreds of city pairs. For example, passengers fl ying between Asia and Southern Europe or between Asia and Africa will now have convenient one-stop connections not previously available within the oneworld network.

From 31 March 2013 British Airways fl ights between London Heathrow, Singapore and Sydney will move from London Heathrow’s Terminal 3 to the airline’s award-winning home in Terminal 5.

The London to Sydney route will be operated by British Airways’ newest aircraft, the Boeing 777-300ER, offering the airline’s latest on board cabin design.

The aircraft also offers the airline’s newest in-fl ight entertainment system, offering up to 50 per cent more movies and doubling the number of TV and music options.

Bristish Airways customers are now able to use Self Service Bag Tag at London Heathrow Terminal 3. This excellent option allows customers to print and attach bag tags at a self-service kiosk. The customer then drops their bag at a bag drop desk. As well as easing congestion on the airport concourse, it adds extra speed, effi ciency and convenience to your British Airways travel.

British Airways is launching a new route from London Gatwick, with the start of services to Sri Lanka from 31 March 2013.

The fl ights will operate via Male in the Maldives on Wednesdays, Fridays and are available for sale now.

Eurostar launch an exciting new partnership with Culinary Director Raymond Blanc.

Continuing on from our Mid-Offi ce Focal point, it seems fi tting to introduce the Mid-offi ce team to you this issue. Suse, Sam and Steph are our three lovely team members.

What is your role at Grosvenor? Suse: I am the Mid Offi ce Manager and I have worked for Grosvenor for 5 years.

Sam: I am the Data Management Coordinator and I have worked at Grosvenor for 2.5 years.

Steph: I am the Sales Support and I have also worked for Grosvenor Travel for 5 years.

What do you enjoy most about working at Grosvenor?Suse: The management style and informality of the offi ce atmosphere.

Sam: The people, the relaxed atmosphere and the relationship that we have with Senior Management – it’s nice to know that we’re not just a number.

Steph: I enjoy working at Grosvenor for the people and experiencing new challenges.

What do you like to do in your spare time?Suse: So many things, I’ll sound weird if list them all!

Sam: I enjoy going out with friends trying out all the latest bars and restaurants in the City.

Steph: Spending time with my little boy.

How will you be celebrating Christmas and the New Year?Suse: In style, as I always do.

Sam: It’ll be my fi rst Christmas in my new house so my boyfriend and I will be hosting both families for a huge Christmas Feast (wish me luck!).

Steph: I will be celebrating with my family.

The team is made up of Suse, Sam and Steph and sits in between the three key elements of the business - Operations, Sales/Account Management & Accounts. Mid-Offi ce helps to link and support these areas and has an important role to play enabling the business to operate more effectively; providing you with the exceptional level of service you expect from Grosvenor Travel.

The Mid Offi ce role includes account management and data analysis; preparing travel reports for clients; implementing Airline and Hotel deals; supporting the Ops Team as well as the Account Directors, providing technical support for our online services. The team deals with any service issues and liaise with our Out of Hours Suppliers.

They also issue the invaluable G Bulletins and are always available to answer any questions you may have.

We will be open as normal 9am-6pm through-out the holiday period closing only on 25th & 26th December and 1st January. A full service, however, will continue to be provided by our 24 hour service team during these times.
