NEXT MEEING: TUESDAY, February 16th

A publication of the CSRA SFPE Chapter - Rob Plonski, Editor

Friends and Family af CSRA,

As a chapter, we had committed to finding presentations this year that are in alignment with the SFPE Core Competencies. In case you don’t remember, we sent out a survey in August, asking which topics you-all wanted presentations on (back to the basics). We started the year with an overview of these com-petencies and your VP, Steve Waidelich, has been doing a fantastic job lining

up presenters month-after-month.

Last month, Steve was able to get Professor Francisco Joglar to present on fire risk technologies in performance-based design; this month, Dr. Bryan Hoskins on intelligibility. Dr. Hoskins is a fellow Maryland grad (Go Terps!), an Assistant Professor at OSU, and serves on NFPA 101 and NFPA 72. I don’t know how Steve is able to schedule such high caliber speakers and tech-

nical topics, but I’m really glad he does! Thank You Steve!

As I mentioned in past meetings, we are in the process of finalizing the SFPE Chapter Excellence

Award. The officers are going to meet up on Saturday, February 20th, to finalize our submission to

SFPE International. At that meeting, we are also going to be discussing nominations for our next slate

of officers. Traditionally, our chapter votes for incumbents in April and we finish out the year with the

Order of The Engineer ceremony, so keep an eye out for more details as we hone-in on how and

when we will bring our chapter year to an end. If you’d like to volunteer and help out with any of

these efforts, including stepping up for any of the officer positions, please reach out and let one of us

know!

I’m looking forward to seeing all of you again, at least virtually, on the 16th!

Cheers

- Rob
