Guacamole• 3 medium ripe Hass avocados,

halved and pitted (peel removed))• 1 tablespoon lime juice from

1 medium lime• ½ teaspoon kosher salt• ½ teaspoon ground cumin• ¼ teaspoon ground cayenne pepper• ½ cup onion (finely diced)• 2 small Roma tomatoes (seeded, diced)• 1 large clove garlic (minced)• 1 tablespoon fresh cilantro (chopped)• ½ jalapeno (minced)

Place the avocado pulp and lime juice in a large mixing bowl and toss to combine. Add the salt, cumin and cayenne and mash using a potato masher, leaving some larger chunks for texture. Add the onion, tomatoes, garlic, cilantro and jalapeno and stir to combine. Lay plastic wrap directly on the surface of the guacamole and allow to sit at room temperature for 2 hours before serving. Serve with blue corn chips. OTHER IDEAS FOR GUACAMOLE…… 1. Turn leftover guacamole into a vinaigrette: Whisk two parts

guacamole with one part olive oil (or avocado oil) and one part Sherry vinegar. You don’t have to worry about the guacamole turning brown because of the acid.

2. Beat guacamole into cooked egg yolks for a new take on deviled eggs. Sprinkle on chili powder or smoked paprika.

3. Top burger with guacamole (or smear it under the burger to prevent a soggy bun…nobody likes a soggy bun).

4. Add to baked potato: two parts guacamole to one part sour cream.5. Substitute guacamole on toast rather than butter. 6. Top a bowl of chili with guacamole.7. Use guacamole as a replacement for mayo in chicken salad.

Beware Of Garbage ThievesIt’s been reported that garbage has been removed from bins prior to pick-up. Take care that you DO NOT place personal, sensitive material in your garbage cans and leave curbside overnight. Best to shred anything that contains your personal information. You may not know this is happening unless you check your bins after being left out overnight or add garbage after being placed curbside. Be aware. Be careful. Thieves look for ways to make a living being dishonest.

2020 Pool ContractHas been awarded to CRYSTAL CLEAR POOLS (CCP). This contract is to maintain the swimming pool located at 3520 Bridgewood Drive; vacuum and skim the pool, brush the vertical walls and horizontal ledge, clean blue tiles and empty the pump filter basket as needed. CCP will also check the chemical balance of the water, record results and add the necessary chemicals to maintain the water in the proper range. CCP will also be responsible for the cleaning of the bathrooms and kitchen and handling of any requests for kitchen and pool rental contracts. Questions and concerns should be relayed to Tom Skinner, current Pool Chairman. Phone number can be located on newsletters or MCHOA website.

Six pool companies were invited to submit a contract, this is the only company that responded with proper credentials and documentation. For the sake of transparency, Tom Skinner is the owner of CCP and the current pool chairman.

“Thanks for being a good neighbor!”

PUZZLE ANSWER: AN ALMANAC!!In 1792, Robert B. Thomas, a bookseller, schoolteacher, and amateur astronomer living near Boston, MA, began a N. American institution when he published the first issue of his Farmer’s Almanac. (The word Old was added in 1832.) He soon distinguished his Almanac from all others, writing in one of the early issues: “We must strive always to be useful, with a pleasant degree of humor.” That timeless formula has made The Old Farmer’s Almanac an indispensable reference for generations of readers.

Thanks to the efforts of our Beautification Committee: Stephanie Stevenson and Debra Dye along with Bruce Almalfitano and Carolyn Stoner. We appreciate the work done by the Beautification Committee this year with new plantings in several locations.
